BYD Opens New Showroom For Private Buyers In Delhi For E6 EV

Chinese carmaker BYD has opened its first dealership in the national capital region (NCR) for private buyers, who will be able to purchase the E6 electric MPV for non-commercial use. The carmaker already has operational passenger vehicle showrooms in Vijaywada, Chennai and Hyderabad. 

BYD will add another electric vehicle (EV), the Atto 3 SUV, to its portfolio sometime around the festive season.

BYD E6 specs and features 

BYD’s current lineup for private buyers solely consists of the E6 electric people mover, powered by a 71.7kWh Blade battery pack that’s good for up to 520km of range in city driving conditions and 415km combined (WLTC).  

It’s a five-seater MPV powered by a 95PS and 180Nm front-mounted e-motor. It accepts charging rates of up to 60kW, at which a full charge can be achieved in 1.5 hours.

The E6 is available in a single GLX variant with features such as a 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen with an Android-based operating system, five-inch MID, automatic climate control and six-way powered front seats. Its safety kit includes dual front and side airbags, front and rear seat belt reminders, ISOFIX child seat mounts, TPMS and rear parking sensors with reversing camera. 

The E6 is priced from Rs 29.15 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). 

Expansion In NCR And Future Strategy

“New Delhi has immense potential for premium passenger vehicles, and additional 18,000 charging stations are planned to be installed across the city by 2024. The goal is to have one station for every 15 electric vehicles inside the city.” – Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business of BYD India 

BYD plans to set up 18,000 new EV charging stations in Delhi over the next two years. The carmaker’s EVs will initially be brought into India as complete knock-down kits (CKDs) that will be locally assembled.

BYD will reveal its plans for local manufacturing and future EVs, alongside its novel Blade battery tech and dedicated EV platform, at Auto Expo 2023 in January.

New Atto 3 EV Launch Around Festive Season 

The new Atto 3 electric SUV is set to break cover soon as a Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV rival. It’s based on the carmaker’s e-platform 3.0 and powered by the new Blade battery packs that could be available in two sizes similar to overseas markets.

The Standard Range variant will offer around 410km of claimed range, while the Extended Range variant will be good for around 480km on a single charge. With a 200PS e-motor, the Atto 3 EV will be more powerful than its rivals with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 7.3 seconds.
