Check Out The List Of The Top 5 SUVs Showcased At The Auto Expo 2025

While most of the SUVs in the list are electric, there is an ICE version of one very iconic nameplate!

SUVs have become the choice among Indian buyers, and carmakers have been focusing on launching newer models with all the latest tech and modern designs. At the Auto Expo 2025, many automakers showcased their SUVs, either upcoming or existing. In this report, we take you through the list of the top 5 SUVs which according to us were the most significant ones at the mega event. Read till the end as we have some honourable mentions as well for you!

Tata Sierra

The legend is back! Tata showcased the upcoming Sierra ICE which is expected to be launched after the Sierra EV in India. It's a modern and younger version of the iconic Sierra, with a bit of design inspiration taken from the former version. It looks stylish and brings its own charm among the more conventionally styled SUVs.

It is likely to be equipped with all the top-notch convenience and safety features. It is expected to be offered with a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, a diesel unit and an electric powertrain. Prices could start from Rs 11 lakh and it will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. 

Tata Harrier EV 

The much-anticipated Tata Harrier EV was revealed at the Auto Expo 2025. It is one one of the most exciting launches of the year. It gets EV-specific design cues to set it apart from its ICE counterpart. The interior of the SUV is loaded with plentiful premium features including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats and multi-colour ambient lighting.

While the Harrier EV’s powertrain specifications have not been revealed yet, we know that it will come with a dual-motor setup, which will allow it to be equipped with all-wheel-drive or quad-wheel-drive as Tata likes to call it and offer a torque output of up to 500 Nm. 

Maruti e Vitara 

The Grand Vitara is already a very popular SUV in India, and now Maruti is all set to launch the e Vitara SUV which was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025. The e Vitara boasts a rugged yet modern design which goes well with its dimensions. It comes with a new cabin which is loaded to the brim with features, some of which include multi-colour ambient lighting, 7 airbags and level-2 ADAS. In fact, it is the first Maruti car to be equipped with ADAS! It boasts multiple powertrain options and gets an impressive claimed range of over 500 km.

Its launch is scheduled for March 2025, and it is expected to lock horns with the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV. 

Hyundai Creta Electric 

The popular Creta has also gone electric this year! Hyundai launched the Creta Electric at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom) at the Auto Expo 2025. It is available in a total of 10 hues and 5 trims for you to choose from. 

Hyundai Creta Electric

Hyundai has taken the Creta ICE’s near-perfect recipe and given it an electric form which promises to be equally good. Apart from a few tweaks on the exterior and a couple of changes to the interior including a few new features, the design and feel of the electric Creta remains similar. 

It comes with two battery pack options and offers a claimed range of almost 500 km. It offers good performance as well, even more than the turbo-petrol Creta. The Creta Electric has already started arriving at dealerships, and you can check it out in the flesh. 

VinFast VF6 

The VF6 was showcased at the grand Auto Expo 2025, alongside plenty of other VinFast models. It will be launched in India before Diwali, along with the VF7. The VF6 is a Creta-sized compact electric SUV, with sporty and modern design elements and appealing styling overall.

The VF6 comes with a host of premium features including a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, heated and ventilated front seats, level-2 ADAS and much more! 

It gets a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration. It offers a range of up to 410 km. Here’s our detailed story about VinFast and its plans in India. 

The VF6 is expected to be priced over Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and MG ZS EV. 

Honourable Mentions

Apart from these 5 impressive cars at the Auto Expo, there were plenty more that have left us impressed. Some of these include the BYD Yangwang U8, the MG Majestor, and the BMW iX1 LWB. 

BMW iX1 LWB

The Yangwang U8 is a massive SUV which screams luxury and also has impressive specifications with its commendable claimed range of over 1000 km and the capability of doing tank turns in all sorts of terrains. 

BYD U8

The Majestor full-size SUV has left us impressed with its large dimensions and macho styling. It is expected to be launched soon in India, and will likely be sold through MG’s premium “Select” showrooms. 

The BMW iX1 now gets a long-wheelbase version and is manufactured locally which brings its cost down significantly. It offers the perfect mix of features, modern styling and the luxury BMW feel. Prices start at Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom).
