The Red Dark edition of the Tata Nexon EV was launched recently and is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the top-spec Empowered+ long-range variant (45 kWh battery pack), this new edition looks sportier with notable cosmetic tweaks which involve blacked-out exterior treatment with red interior trims. Owing to the changes, it commands a premium of Rs 20,000 over the standard top-spec variant.
You can check out this EV in this new avatar at select showrooms or simply sit back and read through all the important details, which we’ve explained along with real-life images in the next section:
The Red Dark Edition of the Nexon EV sports a Carbon Black body paint, resembling the regular Dark Edition. The overall silhouette remains identical to the standard model, but the all-black treatment sets it apart.
The roof rails, skid plates, alloys, “Tata” logos, and bumpers are all blacked out, giving the usually family-friendly SUV a bolder and menacing look. You get connected LED DRLs and tail lamps with welcome and goodbye gestures, which are available with the standard version as well.
Inside the cabin, the black theme extends to the dashboard, centre console, and doors, and you get a red contrast stitching running below the AC vents. The seats offer a breath of fresh air with vibrant red leatherette upholstery, aligning with the edition’s name. The front seats also feature signature ‘#Dark’ embossing on them.
This new edition doesn’t add much to the existing feature list of the SUV, save for a panoramic sunroof and a frunk.
The standard model already features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push button start/stop, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, connected car tech and a 9-speaker JBL sound system.
For passenger safety, the Red Dark edition gets six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, hill descent control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, ISOFIX child seat anchors and a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor along with front and rear parking sensors.
The Tata Nexon EV’s Red Dark edition is only available with the larger 45 kWh battery pack. This powers a single electric motor which churns out 150 PS and 215 Nm. With this setup, it has a claimed range of 489 km. The battery pack supports up to 60 kW DC fast charging where the battery refills from 10 to 80 percent in 40 minutes.
