The next all-electric model from Tata Motors is expected to be the Punch EV, which could break cover later this year. It has been spotted multiple times on test and each time the model is being spotted, there’s something or the other new we can discern. Recently, a test mule has been snapped and it gets a couple of features from the recently launched 2023 Tata Nexon facelift.
From the spy shots, we can learn that the Punch EV will get a 360-degree camera system as hinted by the presence of a camera in the bumper. Also, a sneak peek at its interior revealed the presence of Tata’s 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It could also get six airbags as standard across the board.
Earlier test mules revealed the presence of rear disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold and a gear selector with a display. Bits such a sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start should be retained.
Tata will also be giving the Punch a minor cosmetic refresh with cues from the 2023 Nexon facelift such as a reprofiled grille and probably a full-width LED light bar. The headlights have also been redesigned with a sharper outline. Apart from that, it also gets new alloys as seen in the picture above.
The specifics regarding the Tata Punch EV have not been disclosed yet. Following the pattern of other Tata EVs, it is anticipated that the Punch EV will be available in both Standard and Long Range variants. Given its position between the Tigor EV and Nexon EV, it is probable that the entry-level model will share similarities with the Tigor EV, while the Long Range version might resemble the Nexon EV Medium Range.
For a point of reference, you can examine the specifications of the Tigor EV and Nexon EV Medium Range:
