The MG Comet EV will soon be launched as the carmaker’s second electric vehicle in India. Before its price announcement on April 27, 2023, we had given you an all-around look at its exterior, and now it’s time for a peek inside the upcoming EV.
The Comet EV sports a dual-tone interior with a white-on-grey colour scheme. The corner air vents are placed behind cupholders, while the centre air vents have an oval chrome surround and sit below the dual-screen panel. There’s also a storage cubby on the passenger side.
At the centre of the dash, the floating infotainment touchscreen is a 10.25-inch unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It sits on a floating panel atop the centre air vents, and the climate control dials are placed below within a black panel that also houses the drive mode switch.
The Comet EV has a 2-spoke steering wheel with the same white-grey theme as the rest of the interior. The button stacks on each side are controls for the audio as well as the voice assistant.
Zooming in, the driver’s instrumentation is displayed on a fully digital, 10.25-inch screen that shows the range, battery status, speed and all the other information and warning lights. It also shows a small model of the Comet on a road and you can tell whether the EV’s lights are on or the doors are open with this real-time model on the screen.
The floating centre console houses a rotary drive mode selector with LED indicators for each mode – drive, neutral, reverse and “charge”. The power window controls for the front windows are placed behind the gear selector.
The rear windows are fixed aircraft-style port ones. The rear bench is a 2-seater with fixed headrests and 3-point seat belts for both passengers. In addition, the rear seats also have ISOFIX child seat mounts on both sides.
MG is set to launch the Comet EV in India on April 27. It’ll be a smaller alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 EV.
