The franchise will feature electric cars for the first time in its 22-year history

Fast and Furious disciples, assemble! The 10th film under the Fast and Furious franchise (hereon referred to as F&F) is under development, and we all know the relationship it has had with Dodge. The muscle cars are showcased as the go-to choice of the series’ protagonist, Dom Torreto, who is seen rocking various Dodge models throughout the years. Now, with a new movie in the works, the franchise seems to have taken the electric route while staying true to its roots. We decipher how.

Shooting for the film has been going on in Los Angeles, California, as revealed by the snapped photos on various occasions. And thanks to the public shooting locations, we’ve got hands on a few of the cars that will feature in the movie.

The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT EV Concept will be the brand’s torchbearer in the latest movie. In an Instagram post, The car was spotted leaving the set with a police escort. Although not visible, you can guess who was behind the wheel. Mind you that this is not a production-ready model, but a concept that showcases the future electric models to come from Dodge.

Dodge’s electric concept was accompanied by the DeLorean Alpha 5 electric sedan, another concept that was spotted leaving the set. Although, this time the car was on the back of a trailer. We believe this might be the perfect move for the birth of a new pop-culture icon, considering how the original Delorean was always held in high regard in that sense.

The relationship between Dodge and the F&F franchise might just be the most successful marketing stunt for any brand ever. And with both parties taking the electric route simultaneously, it goes to show their bond. And before electron-haters get flared up, remember we said that the franchise stays true to its roots? That’s because the OG 1970 Dodge Charger, which was the ride of the protagonist’s dad, was also seen leaving the set on the back of the trailer. So it’s not all electric and there will be some noise to keep the petrolheads excited.

Say what you will about the storyline of the franchise, you can’t fault it for its outlandish lineup of cars and the bonkers action-packed scenes, which are heaven-sent for a motorhead. We can’t wait to see how the new movie unfolds with all the new concepts and what not. It will hit the theaters in May 2023.
