The Indian electric scooter market is witnessing numerous new updates and additions from many manufacturers, both established and new. Out of the numerous options out there, Ola and Ather have stood at the forefront with not just compelling lifestyle offerings for the existential millennial in the form of the S1 Pro and 450X, respectively, but highly capable ones too. There’s now a new kid on the block from Simple called the One, which, despite having been launched a year ago, has come into full-fledged existence only now and offers a tonne of promise. Let’s take a look at how these scooters fare when pitted against each other on paper.

The motor on the Ola S1 Pro develops the highest continuous power among the three, however the Simple One boasts of the best acceleration figures, courtesy of its lower kerb weight. That said, the Ola S1 Pro claims the highest top speed among the lot.
While the 0-80 per cent charging time is not available for the Ola scooter, the Simple One has the fastest 0-80 per cent time, despite having the biggest battery pack, which is a major factor to consider while buying an electric vehicle. The Ather on the other hand, despite having lower torque and power outputs, manages to offer impressive acceleration, which implies it’s focus on good city usability.

The Ola S1 Pro slightly lags behind the other two due to a single side telescopic front fork as it implies a stiffer front suspension which is not ideal for city usage. Apart from this, all three scooters are nearly evenly matched on paper with regard to their underpinnings. Heck, all three come equipped with grippy MRF Nylogrip Zapper N tyres.

As can be clearly seen, the Ola S1 Pro is the biggest scooter out of the three in terms of size, and also offers more underseat storage space than the other two. The Ather 450X weighs only 111.6kg which gives it a leg up in performance and handling, especially in an urban environment, and also offers additional storage options in the form of a tail bag and apron bag. The Simple One though is the most balanced option with good underseat storage, lowest seat height and kerb weight that is at the lower end of the spectrum.

Every electric two-wheeler offers a huge list of features, and it’s no surprise that the Ola S1 Pro, Simple One and Ather 450X are at the forefront when it comes to this department. The Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X are similarly matched, while the Simple One lacks few minor features. That being said, this is an area that sees constant innovation, and there’s no doubt that there will soon be additions to the scooter’s already long list of features.
