Exclusive info about the upcoming electric SUV’s variant details, battery pack and features ahead of its March launch

Kicking things off for MG Motor India this year is the facelifted ZS EV’s launch on March 7. MG has already released the exterior images of the EV, and unofficial pre-launch bookings are underway for a token amount of Rs 50,000. And now, we have got exclusive information about the electric SUV’s variant details, battery specifications, and features.

Here’s all the dope:

The Main Change

We have got confirmation that the all-electric SUV will now use a larger 50.3kWh battery pack instead of the pre-facelift model’s 44kWh unit. This, paired with the 143PS electric motor, should result in an improved driving range, which currently stands at 419km (claimed). Like before, the EV will support fast charging capabilities, and ZS EV customers get free charging until March 31

The 2022 MG ZS EV will get most of the niceties from the Astor, including a digital driver’s display, a larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 360-degree camera.

Bits like connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, a powered driver’s seat and auto headlights and wipers will be retained.

Rear seat occupants are treated with new additions like rear AC vents and armrest for better comfort levels.

But What About ADAS?

Sadly, nope. The ZS EV will only get select functionalities like blind spot warning and rear parking assist. In contrast to our earlier report, we can now confirm that the 2022 ZS EV will not get the full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

Expected Price And Rivals

Considering all the upgrades that have been made, the facelifted ZS EV is expected to command a premium over the current top-spec model priced at Rs 25.18 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). That said, these upgrades should keep it a more formidable rival when compared to the Hyundai Kona Electric
