Hero MotoCorp has launched the Vide e-scooter in two variants – V1 Plus priced at Rs 1,45,000 and the V1 Pro at Rs 1,59,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) with slight differences to set them apart.
It is propelled by a 3.9kW motor producing a peak power output of 6kW and is claimed to reach a top speed of 80kmph. Vida also claims that the e-scooter is capable of doing the 0-40kmph run in just 3.2 seconds (Pro variant), which is quicker than the claimed 3.3 seconds for the Ather 450X Gen 3.
The V1 Plus gets a 3.44kWh removable battery pack claiming a respectable 143km of IDC range. The V1 Pro, on the other hand, gets a slightly bigger 3.94kWh removable battery pack and has an impressive 165km of range. Do note that in the real world, the range is likely to drop. Both battery packs weigh around 12kg.
While the standard warranty on the Vida V1 is of five-year or 50,000km, the battery pack is backed by a warranty of 30,000km.
As for charging, Vida claims it will take less than 65 minutes to juice up the electric scooter’s batteries from 0 to 80 per cent via a fast charger.
In terms of underpinnings, the V1 gets a telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension setup. For braking, it features a disc up front and a drum brake at the rear.
The Vida V1 gets a rather attractive design language offering a great combination of retro and futuristic styling. It gets a sharp-looking fascia flaunting an LED headlight setup that looks like the face of a robot.
The rear side panels adopt a more retro styling, slightly resembling the Yamaha Fascino 125, which complements the e-scooter’s minimalistic and fresh appeal. It gets a split seat setup with a removable pillion seat and features a massive 26-litre under-seat storage.
Getting to the most interesting bit – the features. What does the e-scooter not get! Well, a full-fledged navigation, but it gets so much MORE: A fully digital TFT touchscreen instrument console, customisable ride modes along with Eco, Ride and Sport modes, two-way throttle, cruise control, turn-by-turn navigation, parking assist, emergency alert and key fob for keyless access. It also gets trip analytics, scooter diagnostics, regen, follow-me-home lights, anti-theft alarm and document storage.
Phew, the list of features is a long one, but the most fascinating bit is that in the customisable modes, you can adjust how much regen and performance you would like on the scooter. This is an impressive bit, and kudos to Hero for going that way.
You can book the e-scooter at Rs 2,499 starting October 10 in Bengaluru, Delhi and Jaipur. The deliveries of the Vida V1 e-scooter will commence from the second week of December, and the company claims a 70 percent buyback assurance for the duration of 16-18 months. Apart from that, you can avail the e-scooter for a test ride for a period of three days.
It goes up against the likes of the TVS iQube Electric, Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and Bajaj Chetak e-scooters in India.
