More information about Bentley’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV) has come to light. The carmaker’s CEO, Adrian Hallmark, has reportedly revealed that the EV will make 1400PS and do the 0-97kmph (0-60mph) sprint in around 1.5 second. To enter production in 2025, at least one of its variants will be priced at around Rs 2 crore.
We still don’t know which body type Bentley will use for its first EV. According to the CEO, it won’t be a limousine (possibly a luxury GT then?). It’ll be some time before we know about its body style, but we do know it’ll be based on the Audi-developed Premium Performance Electric (PPE) platform.
Hallmark has also revealed what the British luxury car brand “...will not do is try and make them (its EVs) look like electric cars." This possibly hints that the carmaker won’t go for a cab-forward design for its first EV.
Audi’s PPE platform supports high-capacity battery packs, dual motor all-wheel drive, air suspension and an 800V electric architecture, in addition to technologies such as connected car and autonomous driving capabilities.
Bentley’s future strategy for electrification was announced previously as the Beyond100 strategy. The carmaker will launch one electric vehicle each year starting from 2025. By 2030, Bentley’s full line-up will be electric.
The carmaker will soon launch hybrid versions of the Continental GT and GTC sports cars. The Flying Spur sedan and Bentagya SUV are already available with plug-in hybrid V6 petrol powertrains in other countries.

Bentley’s first electric car will have plentiful rivals by the time it arrives in 2025. It is likely to be offered in India as a fully imported model sometime after its global premiere, but it’ll carry a hefty price tag of over Rs 2 crore.
