The first facelift for the Tata Nexon EV is going to break cover on September 7, as confirmed by the first ever teaser for the electric sub-compact SUV. It’ll also be the first EV to sport Tata’s new electric brand identity – Tata.ev. The changes and updates are going to be in-line with what we have seen on the ICE-powered Nexon facelift, which was just recently revealed, but with certain changes.
From what we can dissect from the trailer, the styling changes of the Nexon EV facelift will follow the same treatment with the sleeker DRLs and split headlights sitting below it. However, the DRLs here span the width of the bonnet on a frameless closed-off grille. More EV-specific details could also be present lower down, but that’ll only be confirmed when it breaks cover fully.
The connected tail light setup seems to be a carbon copy of the ICE-powered Nexon, however we do reckon there will be some differentiating factors here as well. The profile wasn’t teased, but expect slightly aerodynamic alloy wheels for the EV, which will help aid its range.

The cabin too wasn’t teased, however, the layout of the dashboard should be the same; with a few EV-specific bits (again) to denote its nature. So you can expect a heavily digital interior, with touch sensitive AC and steering mounted controls, a big 10.25-inch infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display as well.
Tata could play around with the theme and seat upholstery here. Just for reference, the Nexon facelift follows a purple/black colour theme. You can know all about the nitty gritties of the facelifted Nexon in our detailed image gallery article.
The new and bigger screens apart, the features list of the Nexon EV is expected to grow exponentially with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, and up to six airbags.
Ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, a Harman sound system, a sunroof and connected car technology are expected to be carried over as it is.
There are no details on the powertrain specification of the Nexon EV facelift, but it is possible that Tata might be able to squeeze out a bit more range from the existing battery options of the outgoing model, which include a 30.2kWh battery (Prime) and 40.5kWh battery pack (Max). The latter has a claimed range of up to 453km, while the former’s is 312km. The Prime getso a 129PS/245Nm electric motor, while the bigger battery pack gets a more powerful 143PS/250Nm electric motor.
The Nexon EV facelift is, without a doubt, going to be a more premium offering than the model it’ll replace, and hence, might come with a steeper price tag in comparison as well. The current one retails between Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 19.54 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). It’ll continue to rival the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
