Ocean EV is likely to launch in India by 2023 followed by the Pear EV in 2024.
EV buffs in India can rejoice, as we’re getting a new player in town in the name of Fisker. After giving hints in January, the American carmaker has officially established its India headquarters in Hyderabad, Telangana, with the Indian arm being called Fisker Vigyan Pvt Ltd. And the best part? It will be bringing in the Ocean electric SUV as well as the upcoming Pear EV.
Fisker’s India entity will work alongside the engineering and product development facilities in California, USA, on software development, embedded electronics, virtual vehicle development support functions, data analytics, and machine learning. Fisker currently has around 450 employees globally. They claim the new India headquarters will make way for 200 jobs in the country.
So what can we expect from the Ocean SUV and the upcoming Pear EV? For starters, the former in its base Sport trim can push 275PS and offer a WLTP-claimed range of 440km. The top of the line Extreme trim delivers 550PS via a dual-motor setup and can hit 0-100kmph in just 3.6 seconds. As for range, it can go up to a WLTP-claimed 630km on a single charge.
Speaking of charging, a cool party trick in the Ocean SUV is a solar panel on the roof that can potentially give enough free energy to last up to 2,500km to 3,000km every year. Aside from that, it's a luxury SUV with a sleek design, an eco-friendly cabin, and comes with a mammoth 17.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
As for the upcoming Pear EV, details are still scarce. Reports suggest it’ll be positioned below the Ocean as an entry-level offering. Expect it to debut globally by 2023, with an India launch likely in 2024.

Fisker’s already begun local hiring at its Indian headquarters, with the new team expected to be properly running within a few weeks. As for when we can expect the Ocean electric SUV in India, production will commence on November 17, at the carbon-neutral factory of Fisker's manufacturing partner, Magna Steyr, in Graz, Austria. So an India launch might have to wait until 2023. It will take on the Tesla Model Y, which is also expected to arrive in India by then as part of Tesla’s India beginnings.
