News on Fisker’s second upcoming electric after the Ocean SUV, the Pear EV, is coming in thick and fast as the latest updates give us a glimpse of the cabin for the first time. We’ve also gotten a bit more dope on what options it's going to get under the hood and some of the cool features it’ll come with ahead of its debut in the second half of 2023.
Inside, Fisker claims it’ll offer "a new level of storage". While the teaser image of the cabin doesn’t necessarily show the storage bits, we can tell it's got quite an airy feel with huge glass panels courtesy of a low beltline area. Remember that distinct curve on the A-pillar from the exterior teaser image? Well, it actually comprises a wraparound windshield to give the best possible view up front.
Looking elsewhere, there’s an interesting headrest design on the front seats, and there’s a large vertical touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard. Flanking it is what seems to be an interesting interpretation of ambient lighting elements. An earlier teaser already glimpses how it’ll look on the outside, and you can check it out here.
We’ve also gotten more insight into what’s underneath the hood of the Pear EV. Aside from the obvious of being an EV, it will be offered in single-motor (RWD) and dual-motor (AWD) setups. As for batteries, Fisker will be offering two packs with the Hyper Range option targeted to allow the entry-level EV to achieve over 500km of range on a single charge. Like the Ocean SUV, the Pear will get the SolarSky panoramic roof which is essentially a solar panel on the roof that can potentially give enough free energy to extend range.
You might want to take some of the recent teasers with a small grain of salt, as they are from a pre-production model, with the final version likely getting some changes. Fisker is expecting to have the Pear retail at prices starting below USD 29.900 (around Rs 23.23 lakh) for the base variant. Prototype testing will begin towards the end of 2022, with production kicking off in 2024.
In India, Fisker is planning on beginning its innings with the Indian arm called Fisker Vigyan Pvt Ltd. It has already established headquarters in Hyderabad, Telangana, with plans on bringing in the Ocean SUV and upcoming Pear EV. The former will likely show up in 2023, while the latter towards the end of 2024. There’s also the Ronin in the works which may take until 2025 to arrive in India.
