Zypp will deploy these B2B scooters on the ground to help Gogoro better its future offerings that will include e-scooters for the common man

Gogoro has partnered with Indian last-mile delivery startup Zypp Electric as its mobility partner. For starters, both companies will run a pilot programme across Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Bengaluru where Zypp will use Gogoro’s 2 Series e-scoot and also its renowned battery-swapping technology.

Design:

In terms of styling the e-scoot looks properly modern and unmistakably electric. There are no sharp lines and creases like on traditional sporty scooters, but the smooth flowing lines do remind us of the Ola S1, especially from the side profile. However, what’s most striking is the pill-shaped LED headlight which looks pretty cool.

Motor:

Internationally, the Gogoro 2 Series features a liquid-cooled, permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 7kW of peak power and a maximum torque of 196Nm at the wheel. This makes it almost on a par with other premium e-scooters like the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X. However, Gogoro says the India-spec e-scooter will have performance similar to that of a 110cc petrol-powered scooter.

Battery Pack:

While precise details of the battery pack are still under wraps, Gogoro claims a range of 170km for the 2 Series (at 30kmph cruising speed), and the scooter supports Gogoro’s convenient battery-swapping technology as well. Gogoro claims these removable packs (each weighing 10kg) can be swapped for fresh and fully charged ones in six seconds. That’s impressive to say the least.

Underpinning:

The 2 Series features a telescopic front fork and twin pre-load-adjustable rear shocks. Braking is handled by a single disc at the front (220mm) and back (180mm), and is secured by a combined-braking system. The EV rides on 12-inch alloys  which come shod in chunky 100/90 R12 and 110/70 R12 tyres, front and back.

Features:

The Gogoro 2 Series gets a good-looking digital instrument console, but misses out on Bluetooth connectivity. Hence ancillary features like navigation, geo-fencing, etc, will likely not be made available either. It is however equipped with keyless entry, and can be unlocked using a smart key, or a smartphone. It features all-LED lighting, along with a decent 25-litre under-seat storage.

B2B Ready:

That said, Gogoro is also including a tail rack and mobile phone holder for extra practicality for delivery purposes.

The india-spec 2 Series e-scooter has been customised to meet the mobility requirements of Zypp Electric and varied from the international model. By adopting this B2B method, Gogoro has the opportunity to thoroughly test its battery swapping technology and its e-scooter’s performance in Indian conditions. It can take those learnings and later apply it to its future models intended for consumers, one of which is likely to be the Gogoro Supersport.
