As battery technology in cars is starting to become more mainstream, some automakers are reducing the prices of EVs and passing on the benefits to their customers. This move aims not only to boost EV sales but also to narrow the price gap between EVs and ICE models. Check out four EVs that recently received a price cut.
Tata Motors reduced the price of the Tiago EV, citing a decrease in battery technology costs. Among all variants, the base-spec XE variant, equipped with a 19.2 kWh battery pack, saw the highest price cut of Rs 70,000. Tap here to check out the updated variant-wise pricing of the Tiago EV.
Along with the Tiago EV, the Nexon EV saw a reduction in its price. While the Medium Range variants received a maximum price cut of Rs 35,000, the Long Range variants saw a larger reduction of up to Rs 1.2 lakh, making it a tempting option. Head over to our earlier report to take a look at variant-wise price deduction of the Nexon EV.
MG Motor India also recently reduced the prices of its EVs, including the Comet EV, which received the highest price cut of Rs 1.4 lakh. The Comet EV now starts from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 8.58 lakh (ex-showroom). Check out variant-wise price differences of the Comet EV between the old and new prices here.
The MG ZS EV underwent a price reduction of up to Rs 3.9 lakh. While the carmaker did not provide a specific reason for the price revision, we suspect this move might be to boost EV adoption among Indian car buyers. The ZS EV's price now ranges between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.08 lakh (ex-showroom). Check our first drive report to learn more about our experience with it.
Let us know in the comments which model would be your choice after the price revision.
