2023 was an interesting year when it came to electric vehicles. With launches including mass-market models, some quirky city cars, a few facelifts, and even some premium EVs, the choice was immense if you were in the market for a green and non-polluting vehicle. And now, in the final month of the year, it’s time to look back.
The MG Comet is an ultra compact electric vehicle positioned as a personal mobility offering for cities. It doesn’t have any direct rivals, but is priced close to the Tata Tiago EV. The MG Comet measures just around 3m in length. With 2 doors, 4 seats and a range of 230 km, the quirky and off-beat EV stands out amidst other road cars. Along with the 2023 Nexon facelift, Tata updated the all-electric Nexon EV as well. Visually it gets similar treatment as ICE sibling, save for some EV-specific tweaks. The eC3 is the French carmaker’s first electric vehicle in India. It follows the same fundamentals as the ICE-powered C3 and even looks largely similar. It comes with a single 57PS electric motor, a 29.2kWh battery pack, and gets a range of 320 km. Read more about the eC3 in this report.
The XUV400 rivals the Tata Nexon EV primarily. Despite being based on the XUV300, the electric SUV is larger than the ICE variant as EVs don’t have any tax concessions. The Ioniq 5 is the Korean marque’s large hatchback and is one of the carmaker’s first offerings based on a dedicated EV platform. Available only as a CBU import, the i7 is the all-electric version of the flagship 7 Series. It’s for those who want an electric limousine offering the same comfort and party tricks such as the large 31.3-inch 8K display for the rear occupants.

This premium electric SUV is Mercedes’ entry into the luxury electric SUV segment. Offered as a completely built unit (CBU) the EQE is packed with all the bells and whistles. The insides get a triple screen layout that the German carmaker calls the Hyperscreen. Other features include a Burmester sound system, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS tech.
