When it comes to all-electric options, Tata has solutions for customers at various price points, from the entry-level Tiago EV to the newly-launched Curvv EV. However, assessing an EV’s range in real-world conditions is critical, as the MIDC-claimed range provided by manufacturers often reflects ideal conditions, leading to optimistic numbers.
In this report, we provide a comprehensive look at the real-world driving range of all Tata EVs, based on our tests, and let you know what these models are truly capable of on the road.

Before diving straight into the numbers, let’s first understand the conditions the Curvv EV was tested under. We charged the Curvv EV to 100%, set it to 'Eco' mode, and drove it through a mix of uphill and downhill roads, highways, country lanes, and congested city traffic. Regenerative braking was adjusted throughout the test, which helped extend the range.
Notably, the AC was set to 23 degrees, and seat ventilation was in use. Under these conditions, the Curvv EV achieved a real-world range of 381 km, falling short of 400 km. We believe that with cooler climatic conditions, and a flatter surface, the Curvv EV might have crossed the 400km mark, as temperature was around 33 degrees by the end of the testing.

The conditions were slightly different when testing the Nexon EV, especially in terms of temperature. On the day of testing, it was boiling 41 degrees, so we kept the cabin as cool as possible. Under these hot conditions, the Nexon EV delivered a range of about 284 km on our usual route, which includes inclines, declines, rural roads, highways, and busy city streets.
We later tested the Nexon EV on a much cooler day. With regenerative braking adjusted according to traffic conditions and no additional load, it achieved a range of 299 km. To conclude, depending on weather and load, the Nexon EV is capable of delivering between 284.2 km and 299 km.
Recently, Tata also made the Curvv’s 45kWh battery pack available with the Nexon EV, and we are yet to put that to a real-world range test.

Regarding the Punch EV, the testing conditions were similar to our usual roads. It was charged to 100% and driven like a typical individual, without any mileage-maximising techniques, and the AC was continuously in use due to the summer heat. The Punch EV delivered a real-world range of 258.6 km, which is approximately 30% lower than the claimed range.

In our test, Tata's most affordable all-electric hatch, the Tiago EV, was primarily driven on city roads with moderate to dense traffic. This is ideal, as its consumers will more likely use the Tiago EV for their daily commutes. While the Tiago EV's claimed range is 315 km, it delivers a real-world range of 215 km. So, if your routine home-to-office transit is within 40 km, the Tiago EV will easily last throughout the weekdays.

Real-world Range |
227 km |
Finally, we have the Tigor EV, which is built on the same platform as the Tiago EV but boasts a slightly larger 26 kWh battery pack. This does not affect the MIDC-claimed range but it does translate to an additional 12 km in real-world conditions over the Tiago EV, bringing the total range to 227 km. The vehicle was tested under regular city roads with typical traffic conditions.
