The Mahindra XEV 9e is a premium electric SUV coupe, priced from Rs 21.9 lakh to Rs 30.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Although being called a compact SUV, it is slightly larger than the others in the segment hence bringing in more room in its cabin. That said, it is more of a car meant to be chauffeur-driven and hence in this article, we take a detailed look at its rear seat experience.
The Mahindra XEV 9e measures 4789 mm in length, 1907 mm in width and 1694 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2775 mm. Now knowing that, let's step into the back seat of the compact electric SUV. First thing – you get greeted by the light Ivory White and Olive Green themed rear cabin space which feels premium.
It has a flat floor that allows three passengers to sit in the rear seat without feeling cramped. While best suited for average-built occupants, the space remains comfortable for most. Kneeroom is generous, allowing a six-foot-tall passenger to sit behind an equally tall driver with ease. Under-thigh support is decent, and while headroom isn’t class-leading, it is still sufficient. You get well-cushioned leatherette upholstery that takes good care of comfort as well as three headrests. That’s thoughtful for the person sitting in the middle.
For added comfort, the rear seat backrest can be reclined slightly, allowing passengers to relax more. A useful feature is the lever to adjust the front passenger seat from the rear, making it easier to create extra legroom when needed. You also get rear AC vents that offer ample cooling.

It offers plenty of storage options. The door pockets can hold large bottles, and there’s a spacious area between the front seats for keeping smaller items within reach. These thoughtful details make the rear seat practical for daily use. That said, the XEV 9e do not get ventilated rear seats even with its top-spec which could have filled this premium experience to the brim.
Design-wise, the XEV 9e incorporates the sloping roofline which is very neat and clean, removing any sort of ruggedness. It features connected LED lighting and the new Mahindra infinity logo.
It includes plenty of features like a 43-inch triple screen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, dual-zone climate control, powered driver seat and ventilated front seats, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, automatic parking, cruise control, wireless phone charger, and connected car technology. Its safety suite includes 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and level-2 ADAS.
The XEV 9e gets two battery packs and the detailed specifications are as follows:
