Just as we were prepping up for lunch, Hyundai just served a teaser of their highly anticipated Creta EV for compliment. Without any prior hints, the Creta Electric has been revealed in its entirety, featuring two battery pack options and an impressive ARAI-claimed range. The Creta has long been one of Hyundai's most successful nameplates, and its electric version is poised to challenge contenders like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, and even Maruti’s segment debutant, the e Vitara.
In this report, we’ll pit the Creta EV against its rivals to see how it measures up in terms of claimed range. But first, let’s take a quick look at its specifications.
Models |
Battery Packs |
Hyundai Creta Electric |
42 kWh and 51.4 kWh |
Mahindra BE 6 |
59 kWh and 79 kWh |
Tata Curvv EV |
45 kWh and 55 kWh |
MG ZS EV |
50.3 kWh |
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara |
49 kWh and 61 kWh |
The Hyundai Creta Electric packs in relatively smaller battery options compared to most of its rivals, except for the MG ZS EV, which features a slightly smaller battery. Notably, the Creta EV’s 42 kWh battery pack is the smallest in its segment. While this suggests a slightly reduced range for Hyundai’s electric SUV, let’s take a closer look to see how it stacks up against the competition.
Models |
Claimed Range |
Hyundai Creta Electric |
390 km to 473 km |
Mahindra BE 6 |
535 km to 682 km |
Tata Curvv EV |
502 km to 585 km |
MG ZS EV |
461 km |
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara* |
Up to 550 km* |
*Expected range out of the international-spec variant
The Hyundai Creta Electric gets the least claimed range justifiably considering that it has the smallest battery on offer. With the larger pack, it offers 473 km which is quite impressive considering its battery capacity. It is 12 km more than what the MG ZS EV offers.
All that considered, the same could be rightly valued once the prices of the Hyundai Creta Electric are revealed. It can surely become a good practical option to consider if it turns up to be a more affordable option in the compact SUV segment. Also, stay tuned for more details to unfold on this Hyundai EV set to debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo starting from January 17.
