Patent images offer us the first look of the facelifted MG ZS EV.
Will launch in India after global debut sometime in 2023.
Gets new styling cues including squared off headlights.
Facelift likely to carry a premium over the current model priced from Rs 22.58 lakh (ex-showroom).
Patent images of the facelifted MG ZS EV have leaked online. This will be the second facelift for the electric SUV and let’s take a detailed look at the images to know what’s new. The facelift could bump up the EV’s pricing which currently ranges between Rs 22.58 lakh and Rs 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Like the first facelift, which was more than just a minor nip and tuck, for the second facelift the EV seems to have undergone a thorough surgery, especially up front. It now looks sharper and a lot is going on with the mesh grille design and closed-off side intakes that are large, unlike the current model which has rather simple styling. The MG emblem has been shifted from the grille to the bonnet and the headlights are now squared off.
The similarities with the current car start to flow back in profile and the car’s rear too seems to have a similar housing for the taillights. So, the majority of the changes seem to have been concentrated at the front.
There is no information or pictures of the cabin of the updated MG ZS EV and Astor yet. We expect a minor revision to the interior upholstery and themes on offer. Features-wise, we wish MG fixes the minor bugs found in the infotainment system that we highlighted in our first drive review along with additional ADAS features, which is currently exclusive to the Astor.
Existing features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected car tech, a seven-inch digital driver display, voice commands, a panoramic sunroof, a six-way powered driver seat and automatic climate control should continue to be offered.
No details here as well, but we don’t expect any mechanical changes for the ICE and electric siblings. The ZS EV gets its puissance from a 176PS electric motor fed by a 50.3kWh battery pack. The setup offers a claimed range of 461km and supports fast-charging, allowing for nought to 80 per cent charge in an hour.

The ZS EV will compete with the Hyundai Kona Electric. The facelifted compact SUV will make its way to India after its global debut sometime in 2023. The facelift could carry a steeper price tag over the current ZS EV which retails between Rs 22.58 and Rs 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
