BYD India has revealed that it will be announcing prices of the eMax 7 electric MPV on October 8. For the unknown, the eMax 7 electric MPV is the facelifted version of the e6 MPV, albeit with a new name. It will get a tweaked design, new features, but the most important talking point is that it has become a whole lot more practical now.
If you had your eyes on one, here’s a quick overview on the upcoming BYD eMax 7:
You would need a magnifying glass to spot the design changes made to the eMax 7. For starters, there is a new grille with the ‘BYD’ logo, revised LED headlights and a tweaked bumper that looks more minimalist. There are a new set of alloys, while the rear-end features new connected LED tail lamps.
The biggest change for the MPV is on the inside. Unlike its predecessor, the facelifted MPV is offered with a three-row seating layout. Internationally, this model gets the option of either a 6-seater or a 7-seater and the carmaker has teased the former on its official website.
The dashboard layout is largely similar to the pre-facelift model, but it has been updated with new materials, an updated steering wheel and a revised gear knob. Also, the touchscreen infotainment system is now larger at 12.8-inches and rotates like other BYD models.
In the international markets, the BYD eMax 7 comes with all the kit you’d expect such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, powered front seats with ventilation, a wireless phone charger and an electronically operated tailgate. On the safety front, you get six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, parking sensors at the front and rear as well as ADAS.
This is another place where an important and much needed change has been made to the eMax 7. The electric motor has received a bump up in power and now puts out 150 PS and 310 Nm. That’s 56 PS and a whopping 130 Nm more than the outgoing car. It still continues to draw power from a 71.8 kWh battery pack and claims to deliver a NEDC-claimed range of 530 km.
The eMax 7 electric MPV is expected to command a premium over the outgoing model, which was priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be an all-electric alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto, both of which get hybrid powertrains.
