Hero Electric has launched its new low-speed electric scooter called the 'Hero Eddy' at Rs 72,000 (ex-showroom). This upcoming electric scooter joins the likes of the Flash LX, Atria LX and Optima LX low-speed e-scooters in the brand’s portfolio, but is the most uniquely styled product in the entire range.
The Hero Eddy has a completely new design language that will appeal to the youth. Unlike other e-scooters that blend in with the general crop of scooters, the Eddy stands apart with its boxy design, apron-mounted LED headlight and even the motorcycle-like handlebar, all of which has never been seen on any Hero Electric product. Besides, it could be the first of many new EVs that adopt the new design.
The EV maker hasn’t yet divulged details about the powertrain and the battery, but it will have a 250W hub motor with a top speed of 25kmph. It could share the battery pack with other low-speed products, so expect a claimed range of 80km to 85km.
Hero Electric hasn’t skimped on features. The Eddy will boast features like Find My Bike, E-lock, Follow Me Headlight, and Reverse Mode. However, smartphone connectivity and other sophisticated features are unlikely to come with the Eddy.
Hardware on the Eddy seems pretty standard, with drum brakes at both ends to shed speed, and a telescopic fork and dual shock setup to handle suspension duties.
The Hero Eddy will compete with other low-speed e-scooters on sale in India like the Ampere Reo Plus, Eeve Ahava, BGauss A2 and Detel Easy Plus.
