Hyundai has unveiled the power figures for the upcoming Creta Electric, while also providing insights into its specs, interior design, features, and safety tech on offer. The electric version of one of India’s most popular SUVs is set to launch on January 17 at the Auto Expo 2025. Here's a closer look at what the Creta Electric has to offer:

Power Figures

Hyundai’s all-new Creta Electric is here to prove that going green doesn’t mean compromising on performance. Available in two battery options, here are the specs:

  • 51.4 kWh Battery (Long-Range): The e-motor generates 171 PS of power with a range of 473 km (ARAI).

  • 42 kWh Battery: Here, the e-motor puts out 135 PS of power with a range of 390 km (ARAI).

With a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 7.9 seconds for the long-range version, this SUV delivers thrills that can rival some petrol-powered competitors. Fast charging gets you from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 58 minutes with a DC charger, while a home 11kW AC charger takes it from 10 percent to full charge in 4 hours.

Safety Tech

The Hyundai Creta Electric is designed with safety at its core, offering a comprehensive suite of advanced and standard features.

The Level 2 ADAS includes Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Forward Collision Warning. The ADAS system is also linked with the e-motor, where it can regenerate and slow down the car using the radar if it detects a vehicle ahead. Safety is standardized across all variants, with 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and Hill Start/Descent Control. Additional features like the Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM), Surround View Monitor (SVM), and ISOFIX child seat anchors ensure an extra layer of protection.

Interior: Deja-Vu?

The dashboard layout of the Hyundai Creta Electric resembles that of the ICE model, and that’s not a bad thing.

It still boasts a modern design with dual 10.25-inch digital displays and thankfully, it still has physical knobs for easy control of key functions like the infotainment system.

However, it features a new 3-spoke steering wheel with four dots, like the Ioniq 5 and also features the drive selector positioned on the steering column.

It boasts an 8-speaker stereo system from Bose, which also we have seen in the past in the Creta.

India is a humid country and staying cool is important, and the Creta Electric will just ensure that, with its dual-zone automatic climate control and ventilated front seats, your travel is made much more comfortable.

The dashboard of the electric Creta is finished in a sleek black-and-white combo with purple ambient lighting, setting it apart from the ICE model’s grey-and-white interior with amber lighting.

What’s cooler? You can lock, unlock, and even start the car with your smartphone or smartwatch using the digital key.

Other smart touches include a cooled glove box, a panoramic sunroof that responds to voice commands, and i-Pedal technology for smooth, one-pedal driving. It’s all about making your drive as easy and enjoyable as possible!

Features

The Hyundai Creta Electric introduces a range of features, which are shared with its ICE counterpart, the Creta ICE. But, what’s unique is its in-car payment system, which allows users to pay for charging directly through the infotainment screen at over 1,150 EV charging points.

The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature provides the convenience of powering gadgets or appliances both inside and outside the car, making it useful for camping or emergencies.

Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 connected car features, including remote charging capabilities and over-the-air updates.

Expected Price And Rivals

The Hyundai Creta Electric is expected to be priced at around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a competitive offering in the rapidly growing electric SUV segment in India. This pricing will put it in direct competition with several popular electric vehicles, including the Tata Curvv, the MG ZS EV, and the Mahindra BE 6, while it is also expected to face stiff competition from the upcoming Maruti e-Vitara, which is expected to bring a mix of affordability and reliability, as well as the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.

The Creta Electric marks a significant step in Hyundai's efforts to expand its EV portfolio in India, offering a mass-market product that’s expected to make an impact. With its range, feature-loaded design, and strong focus on safety, the Creta Electric is set to become an important player in the electric SUV segment. Pricing and further details will be revealed at its official launch at the Auto Expo 2025, but it's already shaping up to be an exciting addition to the electric vehicle scenario in India.
