Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, has given us a fair clue of what to expect from its first car, the SU7. Images of Xiaomi’s first EV offering have surfaced online as the carmaker has filed it with the local authorities there.
Xiaomi SU7 Design
In terms of design, the Xiaomi SU7 seems to take inspiration from the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedans. Let us explain.
Starting up front, the hood and muscular haunches on either side of the bonnet look similar to that of the Tesla Model 3. It also gets teardrop-shaped LED headlights and the bumper has an air dam below it to cool the powertrain.
In profile, you can see the shape of the silhouette is similar to the Ioniq 6. The door handles are also hidden in a housing a la the BMW i7. Lastly, there are multiple rim options to choose from in either 19- or 20-inches sizes. That sloping roofline comes down to meet a pop up spoiler, which aids in aerodynamics. A set of connected LED tail lamps and a sporty bumper round off the overall design.
Xiaomi SU7 Interior And Features
The SU7’s interior is yet to be revealed, but based on spy shots, it gets a minimalist cabin with funky three-spoke steering wheels and two displays for instrumentation and infotainment. It’s also said that the model will be running Xiaomi’s own OS. As for features, you can expect all the latest gadgetry and safety tech to be available including autonomous driving.
Xiaomi SU7 Powertrain
the automobile community
You’ll be able to get the Xiaomi SU7 with two powertrain options: 299PS (rear-wheel drive) and 673PS (all-wheel drive). Details of its battery pack aren’t out yet, but reportedly, the SU7 will utilise the LFP battery pack from BYD.
Xiaomi SU7 Expected Global Launch And Rivals
Reportedly, the SU7 is expected to go on sale sometime next year. It will lock horns with models such as the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan as well as homegrown competitors from the likes of Zeekr and Xpeng.
