After a cruiser and two scooters, Keeway plans to enter the EV space as well

Keeway, a Hungarian auto manufacturer, has entered the Indian market with interesting products including a V-twin cruiser, and two 300cc scooters. To top that, Keeway has also announced that they will be launching electric vehicles for India as well. The upcoming Keeway EV will be launched next year.

In December 2021, Keeway had showcased two electric vehicles at the EICMA, the E-ZI which is more of an electric moped, and the Blueshark R1, an e-scooter. Both the EVs are claimed to fit into the budget-friendly, entry-level pricing bracket.

The Blueshark R1 electric scooter gets an intriguing body design and is something that we would love to see in India. It is powered by a 3kW motor paired to a 48V, 30 Ah li-ion battery pack, which gives the scooter a claimed top speed of 80 kmph, and a range of about 160 km on a single charge.

Apart from that, Keeway also plans on launching five more ICE-powered two-wheelers in the near future in the Indian market. Click here to find out what these products will be.

Summing up, if Keeway does launch something similar to the Blueshark R1 e-scooter in the Indian market, then it will go up against the premium electric scooters in the country like the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube Electric, Bajaj Chetak and Simple One. In a related development, the TVS iQube electric scooter recently received a major update including the introduction of new variants. Read all about them here.
