The teaser campaign for MG’s next big launch for India, the Windsor EV, is on full steam. And the latest video snippet from MG is especially aimed for chauffeur driven owners as the Windsor EV will get lounge-like reclining rear seats. And unlike cars that get this feature, the Windsor EV’s back seat can recline up to a 135 degree angle, which is one of the highest degrees of adjustment for any mass market car.
This is useful for someone who always travels in the back seat to make yourself comfortable. What’s more? The Wuling Cloud EV, the Windsor EV’s rebadged Indonesian cousin, allows you to even flip down the forward seat, eventually giving the occupant behind the co-driver a lounge like seating experience. We hope MG offers this feature in the India-spec model, considering many people like to travel in the backseats.
The teaser also gives us a look of the interior colour scheme, where the Windsor will get black upholstery with quilt-like stitching and plenty of gold highlights. You can also notice the streaks of ambient lighting on the door pads. Rear seat occupants are further treated with goodies such as rear AC vents and a centre armrest.
The MG Windsor EV is an upcoming electric crossover and will be a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV sold in international markets. It gets a rather minimalist exterior design, an upmarket interior and plentiful features. If you’re interested in taking a closer look at the Windsor EV, you can check out our image gallery.
Like any other MG car, the Windsor EV will come packed to the brim with features. Expected equipment onboard includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and most probably, ADAS as well.
In Indonesia, the Windsor EV gets a 136 PS e-motor that takes juice from a 50.6 kWh battery pack. This setup offers a China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) claimed range of 460 km. It also gets a smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack in other international markets, delivering a claimed range of 360 km.
It remains to be seen which of these options come to the Indian market.
One can expect prices for the upcoming MG Windsor EV to start from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the entry-level variants of the Tata Curvv.
