With the XUV400 coming soon, the two companies plan to set up chargers in 16 cities initially and in time, across all Mahindra dealerships
  • Jio-BP Pulse is setting up EV charging stations across cities and at major highways.

  • The company will set up fast chargers in Mahindra dealerships and service stations.

  • Mahindra’s EV chargers will be set up ahead of the XUV400 EV’s launch in January 2023.

  • Jio-BP’s charging stations are already accessible through the Pulse Charging app.

As Mahindra gears up to introduce all-new electric vehicles (EVs), the carmaker is utilising its partnership with Jio-BP, a joint venture between the Reliance-owned company and BP (formerly British Petroleum), to provide fast chargers for its EVs.

Jio-BP Charging Network

Jio-BP will install DC fast chargers for EVs at Mahindra dealerships and workshops. Although it’s mainly an oil company, Jio-BP’s Pulse venture operates EV chargers across multiple locations in India. The initial plan is to set up EV chargers in 16 cities and the list is likely to expand to Mahindra showrooms and service stations in other cities later.

Meanwhile, Jio-BP already has EV charging stations at its filling stations and aims to set up India’s largest EV charging network. Jio-BP Pulse’s network can be accessed through the company’s Pulse Charge app. We expect that the database and cashless charging capability would later be integrated into Mahindra EVs’ infotainment and navigation systems.

No stranger to EVs, Mahindra is entering a new era of electrification with a slew of advanced electric SUVs in the works. It’ll launch its first e-SUV, the XUV400 EV, in India in January 2023 and plans to bring new XUV-branded e.8 and e.9 SUVs from 2024 onwards.

Starting October 2025, Mahindra will launch a range of three cutting-edge electric SUVs under the BE (Born Electric) brand name. The XUV and BE-branded SUVs will be based on the INGLO dedicated EV platform developed using components from the Volkswagen MEB toolkit.
