Happy Valentine’s Day to all our readers! While we know you love your cars, we hope you’re also celebrating the special people in your life today. On this day of celebration, Mahindra has opened the order books of the BE 6, along with that of the XEV 9e. Both the cars have already reached dealerships, and you can now go and book yourself one. It is available in 3 broad trims and in total 5 variants, and you can take a detailed look at each of its five variants here.
The deliveries of the top-spec Pack Three variant will start in mid-March, followed by the deliveries of the other variants in the coming weeks.
In this article, we take a look at the BE 6’s performance and driving experience in detail:
Before getting to the experience of driving it, let us take a quick look at BE 6’s specifications in detail:
Battery Capacity |
59 kWh |
79 kWh |
Power |
231 PS |
286 PS |
Torque |
380 Nm |
380 Nm |
Range (Claimed) |
557 km |
683 km |
Seeing those numbers, you might have already realized that the BE 6 is not an SUV that can be taken lightly, and if you see it in the rearview mirror chances are that you might have to make way for it.
It is offered in RWD configuration which means drifting is quite possible, but that’s not why you would buy a BE 6. With so much power on tap, you can easily sprint from nought to 100 kmph in just 6.7 seconds (79 kWh battery variant). These numbers are in the BMW 3 Series territory, and significantly quicker than luxury EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW Ioniq 5.
But the BE 6 is not just about mad acceleration, you can also smoothly cruise at any speed and the foot on the pedal won’t necessarily mean that you will feel the jerk or be pushed into the seat. However, go full throttle and you have an SUV that is capable of leaving behind some big names.
The steering wheel is light at lower speeds but weighs up well at higher speeds. Reaching the 100 kmph would be an easy task, and as seen in the many videos that have surfaced online, the BE 6’s top speed is about the 200 kmph mark. The good thing is that it feels composed even at such high speeds. It is an EV which is capable of bringing a smile to your face after driving it. To complement the performance, it's braking also feels adequate and decently strong.
Another benefit of being a quick car is that you won’t have to plan an overtake in advance. Even if there is a full passenger load, it won’t feel short on performance. It comes with a well-tuned suspension setup and is very easy to drive in daily city commutes. The SUV’s commendable noise insulation further elevated the experience.
The BE 6 also features a single pedal mode which has been calibrated well. After getting used to it, it will turn out to be a very useful feature, especially in traffic conditions.
It also comes with multiple driving modes:
Range: For when you have forgotten to charge and your battery percent reading gives you slight anxiety!
Everyday: For day-to-day driving in either city or highway conditions
Race: In case you are into drag races, or just want to use the BE 6’s full potential
The BE 6 is priced from Rs 18.9 lakh to Rs 26.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Here are the variant-wise prices:
