In the history of car designs, a selective number of cars have taken the design aspect to a different level, especially in the mass market segment. The Mahindra BE 6e is one such SUV which is nothing like what you have seen in the past, and will surely stand out when you see it on our Indian roads. Mahindra has priced it from a rather appealing Rs 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and it comes with not just an attractive design, but also a feature-loaded cabin and multiple battery pack options with powerful electric motors.
In this report, we give a detailed look at the exterior and interior design of the BE 6e in as many as 13 images.
Let’s begin:
At a first glance, the BE 6e will look like a concept vehicle, and not a car that’s production-ready.It’s something that does not look like any other mass market vehicles, at least in India!
Up front, the SUV gets an aggressive fascia which looks ready for action! Since it's a new subbrand under the Mahindra brand, it gets the new “BE” logo at the front. You get LED headlights surrounded by C-shaped LED DRLs. The LED fog lamps further complete the all-LED look. What accentuates the front looks is the presence of plenty of gloss black elements which go well with the modern design approach.
There is plenty going on in the side profile as well. Firstly you get modern styling elements such as 20-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels (optional) and flush door handles (front doors). The rear door handles are well-hidden and it might confuse a few buyers, at least initially. Its sharp design is complimented by plenty of cuts and creases, along with sharp window and door lines. A piano black finish on the wheel arches and body cladding makes the profile further appealing. Even the ORVMs and pillars are finished in black, giving it a dualtone kind of effect. A slightly sloping roofline makes the SUV stand out and shine among the herd of conventionally styled SUVs.

Looking at it from the rear, the C-shaped LED tail lamps dominate the look and the sloping roofline merges neatly into the tailgate. The gloss black treatment is carried over to the rear as well and you get the new infinity Mahindra logo right in the middle of the chunky tailgate. There are plenty of sharp lines running across the width of the boot, and to add a sporty vibe, you get split roof-mounted spoilers.
The BE 6e is available in as many as 5 colour options: Desert Myst, Everest White, Tango Red, Firestorm Orange, and Napoli Black.
The interior of the Mahindra BE 6e has a futuristic and minimalist appeal to it. It has its quirks as well with certain bits giving you a cockpit-like feel inside the cabin. The dashboard design and layout is unique and shapes towards the driver with the halo in the lower centre console standing out and adding a nice touch. The dashboard is dominated by the two large screens, one for the infotainment unit and the other for the driver’s display. Its dual-tone colur scheme further adds a nice contrast inside the cabin.
The sporty-looking two-spoke octagonal steering wheel is new for a Mahindra car and comes with an illuminated BE logo in the middle. On the steering, you get a black glass panel which houses controls for your driver display, audio system and ADAS features.
Located in the lower centre console, there are two large wireless phone charging pads to ensure that you do not have to rely on wires to top up your phones. With 16 Harman Kardon speakers on offer, you ought to find a speaker almost everywhere!
There are as many as four horizontal AC vents which give a sleek and minimalist appearance. One of our favorite design bits include the airplane-like gear lever placed in the lower centre console and buttons positioned at the starting of your headliner. These bits take the cabin experience to the next level and give a fighterjet-like experience, while the door handles that look like they belong to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS give a sportscar feel!
The cabin features streaks of ambient lighting, right from the dashboard to the door panels, and if that was not enough, you also get an illuminated fixed panoramic glass roof, WOW!
It is offered with both front and rear armrest and the rear passengers also get their own AC vents, which again gets a unique design and looks nothing like your conventional set of AC vents. Complimenting the quirkiness of the cabin, the headrests also have a unique design!
For the rear passengers, there is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) feature, where you mount your own device to the rear seats and use it as entertainment when you are being chauffeured around. Great addition to keep the kids occupied on those long distance journeys!
In terms of boot space, the BE 6e offers 455 litres of storage, which is not the best-in-segment, but still more than enough for your airport trips and long journeys.
Moving on to the features, there are plenty of premium amenities and safety features on offer to ensure you have a comfortable and safe experience. Apart from the aforementioned screens, you get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, two wireless phone charger, a fixed glass roof with multi-colour illumination, dual-zone climate control, push button start/stop, powered tailgate, a heads-up display, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and multi colour ambient lighting.
Safety features include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera and level-2+ ADAS safety features.
