The highly anticipated Mahindra BE 6e, an all-electric compact SUV, has been finally launched at an introductory price of Rs 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Globally revealed alongside its sibling, the XEV 9e, this born-electric offering from Mahindra seems to be good enough (on-paper) to position itself as India’s answer to luxury compact SUVs from global brands. With its futuristic design, a wealth of modern features, and an impressive power output – the highest in its family to date – the BE 6e sets a new benchmark for Mahindra’s EV lineup alongside the XEV 9e.
A detailed overview of its features and capabilities follows in the next section.
The Mahindra BE 6e is the production-ready version of the BE 05 concept, showcasing an all-new design language. It features a distinctive illuminated BE logo, replacing the traditional Mahindra badge, to establish its unique branding identity.
At the front, the SUV boasts an aggressive yet sleek design with sharp lines, highlighted by striking LED headlights framed by C-shaped LED DRLs.
Although not a true SUV coupe, the BE 6e sports a coupe-like roofline which rather looks sharp and edgy as it slopes down. The doors and window outlines look sharp and the rear door handles are kept hidden for you to search for. It gets a host of cuts and creasing, imparting a sharp design, and the design is complimented by newly styled 19-inch alloys with optional 20-inch alloy wheels on offer as well. The piano black cladding in the profile, which extends to the wheel arches, adds muscle in the design.
At the rear, we can see similar C shaped LED tail lights spanning the height of the chunky tailgate, while the split roof-mounted spoilers look rather sporty. All in all, the BE 6e looks nothing like anything that currently roams on the Indian roads and it won’t be out of place in the plot of a Cyberpunk movie.
The BE 6e’s cabin stands out with its modern and futuristic design, setting it apart from typical Mahindra SUVs or other offerings in its segment. The layout is rather futuristic with a cockpit-like space for the driver, defined by the floating panel above the central console. It gets a sporty two-spoke octagonal steering wheel which includes a sleek black glass panel with integrated toggle controls for ADAS and other functions, along with an illuminated BE logo at the center.
The dashboard is minimalistic while the console itself is practical, offering two cup holders at the front, followed by the jet-like gear lever, a multifunctional knob, and a center armrest.
The ambient lighting strip flows across the dashboard and seamlessly extends into the front door panels. Above, the large fixed glass roof adds an airy and open feel to the cabin.
The Mahindra BE 6e is packed with all modern features like dual display setup for infotainment and digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two wireless phone charger, a fixed glass roof with multi-colour illumination, powered front seats with ventilated function, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, push button start/stop, multi colour ambient lighting, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Safety wise, the BE 6e is equipped with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS safety features.

The Mahindra BE 6e is available with two battery pack options: a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh unit. The EV with its bigger battery pack is paired with a motor that delivers power outputs ranging from 231 PS to 286 PS and 380 Nm in the rear-wheel-drive configuration. Additionally, an all-wheel-drive option was also on the cards, but no details have been revealed for that drivetrain as of now.
The born electric SUV also supports fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a DC charger. Alongside the XEV 9e, it debuts Mahindra's new INGLO platform, which will serve as the foundation for the brand's upcoming EVs.
For stress-free ownership, Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty for the battery pack!
The Mahindra BE 6e will be offered in three variants, namely One, Two and Three, with prices starting from Rs 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Full pricing is expected in the coming days, and Mahindra could reveal them at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo. It will compete with compact electric offerings like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
