The newly launched Mahindra BE 6e enters the compact electric SUV space in India and it has already impressed us with its eye-catching design, feature-loaded cabin and powertrain specifications. In this article, we will be comparing its key specifications with that of the MG ZS EV, which is also a well-packaged electric SUV at a similar price.
If you are in the market looking for an electric SUV in the Rs 20-25 lakh range, you might want to check out the claimed range, performance, charging times and battery specifications of both MG ZS EV and BE 6e:
Here is a detailed look at their specifications:

The Mahindra BE 6e is available with two battery pack options, but the ZS EV is offered with a single battery pack option. As seen above, the ZS EV comes with the smaller battery pack, and in fact, the BE 6e’s larger battery pack option is more than 1.5 times the size of the MG EV’s battery.
Both power and torque figures of the BE 6e are significantly higher than that of the ZS EV, irrespective of the battery pack option! The BE 6e is a rear-wheel drive SUV, while the ZS EV is front-wheel drive. The Mahindra SUV is based on the new INGLO architecture which is also all-wheel drive compatible. However, as of now there is no news about the BE 6e being offered with an all-wheel system.
The MG ZS EV does a naught to 100 kmph run in 8.5 seconds and that’s pretty quick! But, the BE 6e further reduces that time significantly thanks to its powerful electric motor. It does a 0-100 kmph sprint in an impressive time of just 6.7 seconds, and that is close to BMW 3 Series territory!
Let’s take a look at their claimed range and the time these two EVs take to recharge

60 minutes (50 kW input) |
The smaller battery pack option of the BE 6e recharges in 8.7 hours and this is similar to the charge time of the ZS EV. Understandably, the larger battery pack of the BE 6e takes a longer time to charge from 0-100 percent. The BE 6e has a fast charging compatibility of up to 175 kW, which is much higher than that of the ZS EV. The former also recharges in a quicker 20 minutes time, which is quicker than the latter which tops up its battery in 60 minutes.
Saving the most important parameter for the end, here is a look at their claimed range:
Mahindra BE 6e |

50.3 kWh |
Claimed Range |
535 km (MIDC part 1 + 2) |
682 km (MIDC part 1 + 2) |
430 km (ARAI-claimed) |
As we can see above, the BE 6e offers the greater claimed range (MIDC), when compared to the ARAI-claimed number of the ZS EV. In real-world conditions, we expect the BE 6e to offer a range of around 500 km, and with the ZS EV, it will likely be around the 350-400 km mark.
The BE 6e is priced from Rs 18.9 lakh (ex-showroom), with its full pricing expected to be revealed by January 2025. The ZS EV’s price ranges from Rs 18.98 lakh to Rs 25.23 lakh.
Other than competing with each other, the BE 6e and MG ZS EV also rival the Tata Curvv EV and will take on the upcoming Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
