The Mahindra BE 6e has been revealed, introducing a new ‘BE’ brand identity for the carmaker. Sitting in the compact SUV segment, this all-electric SUV challenges the Tata Curvv EV, which had previously already generated buzz for its uniqueness. Similarly, the BE 6e, with its attention-grabbing design and impressive specifications, rightfully earns its share of chatter.
In this article, we’ll take a look at the claimed ranges of both electric SUVs to see which one claims to perform better—at least on paper:
Before we delve into comparing the ranges, let us take a look at the powertrain specs offered by both cars. The detailed specifications are as follows:

Both the Mahindra BE 6e and Tata Curvv EV offer two battery pack options, but as seen in the table above, the BE 6e features significantly larger batteries. It also delivers noticeably higher power and torque compared to its rival. The BE 6e was also speculated to come with an all-wheel-drive configuration, though Mahindra has yet to disclose its specifications.
The BE 6e further impresses with shorter charging times as well, which we’ll check out in the next section:
For the dual battery pack options in each of these EVs, let’s see what are the charging options available in both:

The Mahindra BE 6e and the Tata Curvv EV both support 7.2 kW AC wall box chargers. However, due to its larger batteries, the BE 6e understandably takes more time to charge at this input. Notably, the BE 6e also offers additional support for 11 kW AC charging, which speeds up the process.
The unmatchable difference lies in DC fast charging. The BE 6e takes only half the time to juice up its battery for a similar range. Let’s get to the showdown now – what is the range both of these SUVs claim to offer?

Tested under the MIDC cycle (part 1 + 2), the Mahindra BE 6e, with its larger 79 kWh battery pack, claims an impressive range of 682 km. In comparison, the Tata Curvv EV offers a range of up to 502 km with its bigger battery pack, which is still smaller than BE’s smaller battery option. With the 59 kWh option, the BE 6e claims to run 535 km, which is 33 km more than the Curvv EV’s claim with the comparable 55 kWh battery pack.
While we’ll have to wait a little longer until early 2025 to get our hands on the BE 6e, we’ve already tested the Curvv EV on the tarmac for its real-world range. The results? You can check them out in this story.
Given the impressive specifications for the BE 6e and its higher claimed range—which we reckon will surely translate into a greater real-world range—you do need to pay a premium over the Curvv EV, as you can see below:
Mahindra BE 6e |
Tata Curvv EV |
|
Price (ex-showroom) |
Starts at Rs 18.9 lakh |
Rs 17.5 lakh to Rs 22 lakh |
Note that the starting price of the Mahindra BE 6e is introductory and subject to increase later. We are yet to see its full price list, which will surely cross the Curvv EV’s top-spec Rs 22 lakh mark. As for the entry-level trims, the BE 6e is priced Rs 1.4 lakh higher than the Curvv EV.
The Mahindra BE 6e was revealed alongside the XEV 9e, with both vehicles set to hit the market in January 2025 and deliveries expected to begin by the end of February or March 2025. Mahindra is offering a lifetime battery warranty for the first registered owners. However, if the ownership is transferred, the warranty will be limited to 10 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first, starting from the vehicle’s initial delivery date.
Apart from the Tata Curvv EV, the Mahindra BE 6e will also compete with models such as the MG ZS EV as well as the upcoming Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV. Stay tuned for more comparisons on the way!
