Three new new concept electric vehicles (EVs) will be unveiled in July 2022 as part of Mahindra’s Born EV lineup

  • Features a large digital screen, which should comprise the touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver’s display like the XUV700.

  • Driver cockpit gets a thick wraparound panel finished in red.

  • Will debut Mahindra’s new ‘human-machine interface’ of communication, infotainment and connected car technologies.

  • First production-spec model expected in 2025.

We know that Mahindra’s future roadmap will be electric, with the carmaker set to reveal three all-new EV concepts as part of its ‘Born EV’ lineup in July. Now, we’ve got our first glimpse of what these concept EVs will look like on the inside; and it's safe to say it’ll be a digital paradise on wheels.

By digital paradise, we mean it sports an extra wide digital screen at the top of the dashboard and  should comprise the touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver’s display. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice its layout largely similar to the XUV700, but the difference in the Born EV is that the top half of the dash is a lot more minimalistic with all the AC vents placed within the centre.

The coolest part about the cabin is undoubtedly at the driver’s cockpit with a thick panel surrounding the driver from the door trim to the centre console. The red finish is the cherry on top of the futuristic look. We also noticed quite an angular steering wheel, a gear lever and rotary knob, likely for controlling drive modes right beside the driver.

Of course, these teasers are from the concept, so expect things to be toned down a little for the production model. Other than that, earlier teasers of the concept SUVs sported a shared design language with C-shaped LED headlamps and taillights and sloping roof lines. They are designed by Mahindra Advanced Design Europe, headquartered in the UK.

Going into the technical bits,  these EVs will be built on a new, dedicated electric car platform, unlike the eVerito and upcoming XUV300 Electric that are based on ICE vehicle platforms.

While we’ll be seeing Mahindra’s Born EV concept lineup in July, you’re gonna have to wait a long time before we see a production model, as the first production-spec Born EV is expected to arrive sometime between 2025 and 2026. For now, we are expecting the XUV300 Electric to launch in India around April 2023.
