Mahindra’s XUV400 electric compact SUV has been teased for the first time. Slated to be revealed on September 08, the electric SUV will be longer than the sub-4-metre mark as electric vehicles aren’t eligible for under four metres taxation.
The teaser also gives a sneak peak of the front fascia, where you can see it flaunting Mahindra’s new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo finished in copper, first seen on the XUV.e8. All ‘Twin Peaks’ branded electric SUVs will get the logo finished in copper. The EV’s headlamps seem to be the same units as those on the XUV300, but the DRLs don’t extend down to the bumper like the ICE model, hinting there will be some design changes. Also, the grille insert has been revised.
The side profile is where the difference will be prominent as the electric SUV will be longer than the ICE model by around 200mm. Most of that length will be added behind the rear wheels, so you can expect better boot space and better executed rear profile. A redesigned pair of LED tail lamps as seen in earlier spy shots will round off the design.
We are yet to see the interior of the XUV400, but can say it would be loaded with kit like a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof, dual zone climate control, cruise control and keyless entry with push button start. Safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Technical specifications are still under wraps, but we expect numbers to be benchmarked against its rival, the Nexon EV. For reference, here are the detailed specifications of the Tata Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max:
