These all-electric SUVs are expected to get customisable pre-set features and a sport mode
  • Mahindra will reveal 5 different all-electric SUVs on August 15

  • The teaser hints at a capable fast-charging system.

  • The video also showcases features such as electric seats, multi-zone climate control and ambient lighting.

While India will celebrate its 75th Independence day on August 15, Mahindra will reveal not one but five different electric SUVs that will lay the foundation for future EVs from the Indian marque. The event will happen in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. But before that, Mahindra has yet again teased us with a new video, which reveals more information, specifically some features of the upcoming SUVs.

The teaser starts with a digital speedometer followed by what looks like the infotainment system, showing the UI while the vehicle is being charged. This is Mahindra most probably hinting at fast charging capabilities. We can see various drive modes including Sport, and the UI looks nothing like the AdrenoX used in the current crop of Mahindra SUVs like the XUV700 and Scorpio N. The preview then showcases a personalised menu, which activates a couple of settings. These include adjusting the front seats, climate control, music preferences and ambient lighting. We can assume that these are custom presets according to a user’s preference. From this, we can also expect the SUVs to feature electric seats with memory function, multi-zone climate control aircon and ambient lighting.

Unfortunately, these are the only bits that Mahindra has teased for now. But thanks to previous teasers, we know what to expect in terms of body styles. There is a compact crossover SUV,  mid-size SUV that resembles the XUV700, sporty mid-size SUV, large SUV with a sloping roofline and a coupe SUV. Yet another teaser before this had also revealed some styling elements, especially the sharp front and rear lights.

These SUVs will go up against Tata’s Curvv and Avinya concepts that were showcased before. That said, Mahindra is expected to foray into long-range EVs with the long-awaited XUV400, which is based on the XUV300 subcompact SUV. We expect the Indian marque to do that by the first quarter of 2023.
