Mahindra had launched the XUV400 around the same time last year. But given that it was the electric avatar of the already existing XUV300 launched in 2019, the interiors were dated, to say the least. Mahindra has now fixed that shortcoming in the form of new PRO variants - EC PRO and EL PRO variants, which pack a revised dashboard, new features, a fresh dual tone theme and more tech than before. Bookings are open and deliveries will begin from February 1. Let's dive right into the changes:

2024 XUV400 Price

XUV400 Variants

Introductory Price (ex-showroom)

EC PRO (34.5kWh battery, 3.3kW AC charger)

Rs 15.49 lakh

EL PRO (34.5kWh battery, 7.2kW AC charger)

Rs 16.74 lakh

EL PRO (39.4kWh battery, 7.2kW)

Rs 17.49 lakh

Compared to the outgoing variants, Mahindra has somehow managed to slice the prices of the 2024 XUV400 by up to Rs 1.9 lakh. The biggest disparity is in the top-spec prices, which is a big surprise considering the depth of the changes and feature additions. Of course, these are introductory prices and will be valid until only May 31.

Updated XUV400

You won’t be able to differentiate the updated XUV400 from the outside save for the addition of an EV badge at the rear and the shark fin antenna on the roof. There's also a new exterior hue called Nebula Blue, but all the rest of made to make life inside the cabin more convenient. Changes come in the form of the revised dashboard, which now sports a new dual-tone theme comprising beige and black colours.

There’s a new floating 10.25-inch touchscreen system and physical buttons and knob beneath it, while the central air-con vents are now placed horizontally.

Beneath those new vents is the revised panel for the AC controls, which have dual zones and comes with dials and physical buttons. The XUV700-like steering, too, is new, and looks sportier thanks to a flat bottom design. Behind that steering wheel is a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with some really neat graphics.

Moving beyond the cosmetic tweaks, the XUV400 EL Pro packs a bunch of new features including the aforementioned dual digital screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual zone climate control, 6 speaker sound system, height-adjustable driver seat, wireless phone charging and 55+ connected car tech features.

Do note that most of these new features, including the new digital screens, are limited to the EL PRO variant.

The safety kit includes six airbags (two standard), rear defogger, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear disk brakes, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, and a reversing camera.

Note: These changes to the XUV400’s cabin, including the revised dashboard design and new features, are likely to make their way inside the upcoming XUV300 facelift as well.

Mahindra hasn’t made any tweaks to the powertrains of the XUV400. The only difference is that the EL PRO variant now gets the option of the smaller 34.5 kWh battery, which was previously limited to the base-spec EC variant.

The 150 PS/310 Nm electric motor is shared between the two trims and battery packs, and is good for a 0-100 kmph time of 8.3 seconds (claimed).

With these changes, the updated XUV400 makes a better case for itself against its sole chief rival, the Tata Nexon EV.
