  • Maruti Suzuki says its plan is to locally manufacture the eVX and then export them internationally.

  • Currently there are no EV offerings in the Maruti Suzuki’s India portfolio.

  • The eVX will be first with its expected launch in 2025.

  • It will carry an estimated price tag of around Rs 25 lakh and will rival cars like MG ZS EV.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will be the carmaker’s first all-electric model to be launched on our shores. It will be a Grand Vitara sized SUV and will lock horns with models such as the MG ZS EV. Now, we have learnt that the eVX is going to be powered by a locally manufactured electric motor and battery pack. And that could result in a killer price tag for the upcoming electric vehicle, which will also be exported from India.

Speaking at an interview, Rahul Bharti, Executive Director Of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, said, "It is not enough to simply launch a model with imported batteries and motors. Our plan is that when we launch an EV, it should be locally made. So we will have a localised battery and motor in our EV and to build scale, we will also export the model from India.”

Its test mule was spotted recently on our shores, though technical specifications are yet to come to light, the concept featured a 60 kWh battery pack providing an estimated claimed range of 550 km. It will also be sporting dual motors, making it an all-wheel drive vehicle.
