German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off the CLA Class concept – a four-door all-electric coupe – at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. This concept model previews glimpses of the upcoming all-electric lineup based on a brand-new platform. Most notably, the CLA Class concept will pave the way for three more entry-level models underpinned by the same architecture, including two SUVs. Here is a close-up look at the CLA Class straight from the Auto Expo 2025.
First showcased at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, Germany, the CLA Class concept builds on Mercedes-Benz's Modular Architecture (MMA). It features a clean sheet yet a familiar design that has been a signature style of the CLA nameplate since its inception in 2013.
A light stripe running throughout the bonnet an A-pillar with a similar pattern seen at the back, three-pointed motifs used in the headlights and taillights, an elongated bonnet, low-slung stance, short rear deck, and a slanting roofline are the main highlights of the CLA Class concept. At the front, it set itself apart from the previous CLA Class models with a huge blanked-off grille, which shares a strong resemblance to the one on the AMG GT and SL. This grille adorns an array of illuminated stars with a big logo in the centre.
The side profile gives it an elegant look with the striking wheel design complimenting its overall appearance. The one-piece glass roof doubles up as a rear window, while the slightly curved boot gives it a square stance. Overall, the CLA Class concept appears to be a sharp and classy four-door coupe.
On the inside, the futuristic-looking cabin of the CLA Class concept matches the layout and material of the Vision EQXX. Additionally, Mercedes's signature turbine air-con vents are dials in reality to control dual-zone AC and feature an integrated display in the centre.
Furthermore, the seats are draped in Nappa leather tanned using coffee husks with another material made from recycled PET plastic. Also on offer are artificial silk and mats made from bamboo. Recycled paper for door pulls and armrest trim.
The tech-laden interior boasts an MBUX Superscreen display spanning across the width of the dashboard. The ultrawide panel comprises three different screens – a driver display, a central information hub, and a co-driver’s display.
With the CLA Class concept, Mercedes has showcased its new MB.OS operating system – based on a proprietary chip-on-cloud technology for next-level personalisation, safety, and autonomous driving. Speaking of which, the hardware is Level 3 autonomy-ready and can be accessible via an OTA update.
The CLA Class, although still in concept form, promises a claimed range of up to 750 km thanks to its in-house developed drive unit that claims to provide up to 93 percent energy from battery to wheels in long-distance driving. Advanced battery technology, such as silicon-carbide inverter and battery-cell chemistry with silicon oxide anode design have been used for higher energy density. Also on offer is 800V architecture that allows top-ups of up to 400 km in 15 minutes.
It is expected that Mercedes-Benz will showcase the production version of the CLA Class sometime in 2026 followed by its market launch in various countries. India launch is also expected sometime later.
