EQE SUV slots between the EQC And EQS SUVs.
It has a 90kWh battery pack good for up to 590km of range, depending on the variant.
Mercedes has also revealed the AMG EQE 43 and EQE 53, its first performance electric SUVs.
Expected to arrive in India soon, after the EQE sedan and EQS SUV.
The newly unveiled Mercedes-EQ EQE is the newest SUV from the German luxury marque. If you don’t know yet, Mercedes is building a portfolio of electric vehicles (EVs) that mirror its ICE lineup. That means the EQS is equivalent to the S-Class sedan and the E-Class’s corresponding EV twin is the EQE, and so on.
Now, the EQE’s SUV version has become the GLE-equivalent electric SUV in the carmaker’s lineup. And the nicer part is, there is an AMG version, which makes it the most powerful Mercedes-AMG SUV till date.
On the outside, keen observers will notice the similarities in front-end design elements between the EQE SUV and its sedan counterpart. The SUV has similarly large headlights that merge into the black panel ‘grille’ that houses the ADAS sensors. Lower down, the SUV gets a larger trapezoidal air vent at the base of the front bumper, flanked by C-shaped body-coloured trim elements in the air dams.
While the EQS SUV has an upright yet aerodynamic stance, the EQE is sleeker and sportier, with a profile that resembles the smaller EQC. Wheel sizes up to 22 inches are available and they give the SUV a nice purposeful stance.
At the rear, the SUV features slick split LED taillights with a wave-like design, connected by an LED light strip in the middle. Overall, the aesthetic is clean and minimalistic and there are even exhaust-exit-like air vents at the base of the bumper. Its overall swooping design is focussed more towards aerodynamic efficiency, which is rated at 0.21 Cd.
Inside, the EQE SUV has a clean and familiar aesthetic that we’ve seen in other models in Mercedes’s EQ lineup of EVs. Most of the real estate on the vast dashboard is taken up by the MBUX Hyperscreen that comprises a massive centre display, driver’s instrumentation screen and a third 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.
Other interior highlights include an ‘Energising Air Control Plus’ air purification system, Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos (for theatre-like surround-sound), leather-free interior and creature comforts such as powered seats, four-zone climate control and a panoramic sunroof.
The Mercedes EQE SUV is powered by similar rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive powertrains as its sedan version. The base variant has a rear-drive motor with an output of 292PS and 565Nm, while the mid-spec all-wheel drive version gets a bump in torque at 292PS and 765Nm. The top-spec (non-AMG) version of the EQE SUV has a 407PS and 858Nm AWD powertrain. Underneath, the EQE SUV is based on the new ground-up EV platform that underpins its sedan version.
It's powered by a 90kWh battery that offers a driving range of up to 590km, depending on the variant. It's capable of fast charging at a rate of up to 170kW, at which the SUV can recover up to 220km of range in 15 minutes.
Similar to other cars in the luxury marque’s lineup, the EQE SUV has a suite of standard driver assistance features such as driver attention monitoring, brake assist, lane keeping assist, speed limit assist and more. Its single-pedal driving feature can detect if you’re approaching a red light and slows the vehicle to a complete stop automatically. The full suite of autonomous driving features are available as optional extras.
Alongside the standard EV, Mercedes also unveiled the AMG EQE SUV, the carmaker’s first performance electric SUV. It’ll be available (in overseas markets, for now) in two variants, EQE 43 4Matic with 476PS and EQE 53 4Matic+ variant with a 687PS AWD drivetrains. The latter is the most powerful AMG SUV till date.
The sportier EQE SUV variants utilise more powerful AMG-specific e-motors with a better temperature regulation mechanism for the electric architecture that allows repeated acceleration without a slop in performance.
In addition, the AMG variants get a retuned suspension, electro-mechanical roll stabilisation, high-performance brakes (ceramic brakes available as an option) and a unique AMG sound experience for an otherwise whisper-quiet powertrain.

There’s no official word yet on the Mercedes EQE SUV’s launch timeline in India, but we do expect the EV to be introduced in the near future.
