Images and select specs of the SUV have been revealed ahead of its official launch tomorrow

Ahead of its official unveiling, the Mercedes EQE SUV (not to be confused with the sedan of the same name) has been leaked on China’s government website. It’ll slot between the EQC and EQS electric SUVs as the GLE-equivalent offering in the carmaker’s electric lineup.

It’s set to be unveiled tomorrow and here’s what we know about it so far:

What it looks like

The leaked images show us that the EQE is a sleek family SUV with a more rounded front fascia than its larger counterpart, the EQS SUV. It has a similar cab-forward styling as other Mercedes EQ vehicles with all four wheels placed at the corners.

You can see the SUV’s similarities with the EQE sedan in its front-end styling with the C-shaped side air dam trim bits and lower air vent design. At the rear, the taillights have an interesting wave-like design and are connected by a full-width lighting element. Lower down, a pair of vents on the bumper mimic exhaust exits.

EQE SUV has more power than the sedan

We’ve already seen that the EQS SUV is more powerful than the corresponding EQS sedan. This will be true in the EQE SUV as well, as we now know that itll have a 475PS variant with dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD). That’s about 67PS more than the EQE 500 4Matic which has a 408PS AWD powertrain.

We expect the EQE SUV to get the same 90kWh battery pack as the sedan, offering a range of over 500km. It should be capable of fast charging at up to 170kW, at which rate it should take just over half an hour for the battery to juice up.

Similar to other EQ models, the EQE will sport a massive MBUX Hyperscreen on its dashboard that comprises of a digital driver’s display, centre infotainment screen and a third screen for the front passenger.

The SUV gets a two-tone interior with luxurious materials, ambient lighting and a centre console with an arrow pattern on the lid. Given the SUV’s large 3030mm wheelbase (30mm longer than the GLE), the electric SUV should be commodious on the inside.

We’ll know the full specs and details of the SUV upon its global debut tomorrow. Given that the EQS already exists in India and the EQE sedan is expected soon, the EQE SUV is likely to be offered on our shores as well. But Europe, China and North American markets will get first dibs on the SUV.
