The MG IM5, an all-electric sedan that first debuted in China in 2024, has now been showcased in India at the Auto Expo 2025. This futuristic EV has already captured global attention, having made its debut at the prestigious Geneva Auto Show in 2024. With plans to launch in the European market in 2025, the IM5 represents MG’s push toward innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology. MG IM5: Design

The MG IM5 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic exterior design that impresses from every angle. The premium sedan measures something like below:

Its striking front end features wavy LED projector headlights seamlessly integrated into a bonnet that tapers elegantly forward. A blanked-off grille and C-shaped air inlets on the black-finished front bumper add a bold contrast, enhancing its dynamic front fascia.

From the side, the IM5 showcases flush-fitting door handles and eye-catching 19-inch black alloy wheels with an aerodynamic design, which can be upgraded to larger 20-inch versions for an even more commanding presence.

 

At the rear, the standout feature is a stylish wavy LED light bar set within a glossy black strip. Adding a unique touch, the IM5 includes a pixelated display that allows drivers to showcase personalized messages.

MG IM5: Interior And Features

The MG IM5 has a modern and futuristic interior, unlike any other car in India. It features a unique yoke-style steering wheel, similar to those found in some Tesla and Lexus models. Sleek AC vents and a central screen are included for controlling all the EV’s functions.

As for features, the IM5 comes with a dual-touch screen setup, including a large 26.3-inch touchscreen and a 15.5-inch passenger display, along with a smaller 10.5-inch central screen for other controls, a 21-speaker sound system, 256-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, and two wireless phone chargers with cooling. It also has a special EV-specific vehicle-to-load (V2L). The ORVMs are electrically adjustable and come with heating, memory, and an auto-tilt function while reversing.

For safety, the IM5 includes 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera and ADAS features like forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

MG IM5: Powertrain

The MG IM5 sedan comes with three battery pack options and two drivetrain setups. It makes use of dual motors for the all-wheel drive configuration and a single motor for the rests. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2 seconds. The detailed specifications are as follows:

MG IM5: Expected Price And Rivals

MG is yet to confirm if the IM5 sedan is going to be launched in India or not. However, if it is launched, do expect it to be priced over Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
