MG Motors India has revised prices across the lineup, with the Comet EV becoming up to Rs 1.4 lakh more affordable. It is now priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 8.58 lakh (ex-showroom). With this update, not only does it undercut the entry-level Tata Tiago EV by Rs 1.7 lakh but also provides a more feature-rich cabin in its top-spec guise for less money.
But first, let's compare the Comet EV’s pricing before this price revision.
Variant |
New Price (ex-showroom) |
Old Price (ex-showroom) |
Difference |
Pace |
Rs 6.99 lakh |
Rs 7.98 lakh |
Rs 99,000 |
Play |
Rs 7.88 lakh |
Rs 9.28 lakh |
Rs 1.4 lakh |
Plush |
Rs 8.58 lakh |

Rs 1.4 lakh |
As you can see, the Comet EV’s base-spec Pace variant is now Rs 99,000 more affordable, while prices of the higher-spec Play and Plush variants are reduced by Rs 1.4 lakh. If you were eyeing one, now is the right time for you to reserve your Comet EV.
The Tiago EV, a larger alternative to the Comet EV in terms of size, turns out to be Rs 1.7 lakh more expensive, considering the Tiago’s 19.2 kWh battery pack variants. Here’s a quick look at both EVs’ pricing in detail.
MG Comet EV Price (ex-showroom) |
Tata Tiago EV Price (ex-showroom) |
Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 8.58 lakh |
Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 9.34 lakh (19.2 kWh battery pack variants) Rs 10.29 lakh to Rs 12.09 lakh (24 kWh battery pack variants) |
Additionally, you can also get the feature-loaded top-spec Comet EV for less than the price of the entry-level Tiago EV. The two door ultra-compact EV also has more premium features to offer, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, keyless entry with a smart start/stop system, and three fast-charging USB ports.
In the powertrain department, the Tiago EV is offered with two battery pack options: a 19.2 kWh unit, which delivers 250 km of claimed range, and a 24 kWh unit, which delivers 315 km of claimed range. Each version gets a single electric motor driving the front wheels, rated at 61 PS/110 Nm and 75 PS/114 Nm respectively.
While the latest price cut may make the Comet EV a more favourable option, you compromise on the range, with its 17.3 kWh battery claiming only 230 km. The single motor driving the rear wheels is rated at 42 PS/110 Nm. You can check out a detailed comparison between the Comet EV and the Tiago EV here.
Apart from rivalling each other, both the Comet EV and Tiago EV also compete with the larger Citroen eC3 hatchback.
