MG has made use of the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show in China to pull the drapes off the production-ready Cyberster roadster. Not much is known about the two-seater electric roadster in terms of specifications, but it will be launched in Europe and the UK sometime around May 2024. It incorporates the brand’s styling design used in its older roadsters and at the same time sports modern touches in line with MG’s brand identity.
The front nose is sharp and houses smooth creases on the long bonnet, the latter of which is a homage to the older roadsters from the carmaker. The LED headlights look modern and are part of the curvaceous front fender that flows smoothly into the shoulder line of the roadster. The alloy wheels look slick and fill the wheel arches quite nicely, giving it a nice sporty stance.
The innovative scissor doors look the part and while the styling cues are very clean and smooth at the front and in profile, the rear of the car seems to take a different direction in that sense. The main taillight is an arrow element on either side, literally. There’s also a secondary light unit in the form of a strap of LED that spans the width of the trunk, just below the boot lip. So while the front-end looks retro, the rear-end screams proper modernity.

MG hasn’t revealed any specifications on its all-electric powertrain but reports suggest that the Cyberster could get the option of multiple powertrains with single and dual-motor models, the latter of which could produce around 537PS. No deets on its weight have been spilled either, but again, as per reports, it could tip the scale just shy of 2,000kg.
The all-electric Cyberster will go on sale in Europe and the UK sometime around May 2024, but there’s no news on an India launch yet. It will be an electric alternative to the likes of the Mazda MX-5 Miata and BMW Z4, while going head-on against the Tesla Roadster.
