SAIC Motor and JSW Group have entered into a joint venture to expand MG Motors' operations in India.
The partnership aims to introduce a broader range of vehicles to our market while enhancing local sourcing.
This joint venture also aims for the development of new connected EVs and the improvement of the charging infrastructure in India.
SAIC Motors, the parent company of MG Motors, has entered into a joint venture with India’s JSW Group to expand MG Motors' operations in India. The joint venture aims to introduce a broader range of vehicles to the market and enhance local sourcing, along with improving the charging infrastructure in India.
As per the signed agreement, JSW will have a 35 percent stake in the Indian joint venture operations. SAIC will continue in supporting the collaboration by providing advanced technology and products, aiming to deliver mobility solutions with a specific focus on the Indian consumer.
With this joint venture, SAIC Motor and JSW Group will work closely to create an automotive ecosystem in India by developing connected NEVs (four-wheeled EVs whose speed is limited between 32 kmph and 40 kmph) and achieving carbon neutrality for internal combustion engine vehicles. This joint venture is intended to make the most of SAIC Motor's automotive experience and benefit from JSW Group's presence in both B2B and B2C sectors of the Indian economy for local sourcing of materials and establishing a robust supply chain.

Speaking about the collaboration, Wang Xiaoqiou, president, SAIC Motor, mentioned that they will work closely with JSW Group to bring the best of innovation in creating greener and smarter mobility products and services for consumers. JSW Group will also aim to grow and transform MG Motors' operations in India with this strategic collaboration.
