The e-scooter gets a claimed range of 160km and top speed of 90kmph

After multiple spy shots and teases, Okinawa has launched its biggest electric scooter yet, the Okhi90. The Okhi90 is the company's flagship product and a radical departure from the rest of its portfolio.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The Okinawa Okhi90 is priced at Rs 1,21,866 ex-showroom post Fame II. The price will be even lower after state subsidies are applied. In Delhi, it retails at Rs 1,03,866 post Fame II and state subsidies. It goes up against premium electric scooters in the country like the Ola S1 Pro (Rs 1.10 lakh ex-showroom Delhi), Ather 450X (Rs 1.38 lakh), Bajaj Chetak (Rs 1.15 lakh) and Simple One (Rs 1.10 lakh).

What’s New?

With a look quite unlike any other in the market, the Okinawa Okhi90 employs a bold design with a clean and minimalistic styling. On the front, it gets an LED headlight setup with fascia-mounted DRLs and sleek turn indicators. Adding to the premium appeal is the chrome finish on the sides and an edgy LED tail light setup. The electric scooter rolls on massive 16 inch wheels, biggest in the segment, giving it a high ground clearance.

Powering the Okhi90 is a belt-driven centrally-mounted motor (a first for the company) paired to a detachable li-ion battery pack. It is claimed to offer a range of 160km on a full charge, and achieve a top speed of 80-90kmph, making it faster and offering more (claimed) range than the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X and TVS iQube Electric.

Coming to the features, the Okinawa Okhi90 is loaded to the gills with a fully digital instrument cluster, two ride modes (Eco and Power), smartphone and Bluetooth connectivity, all LED lighting, app connectivity, turn by turn navigation, notifications, OTA updates, keyless start, geo-fencing, music control, a massive, biggest-in-segment 40 litre under seat storage, anti-theft alarm and USB charging socket. For extra practicality, it also gets apron-mounted twin hooks, glove box and an under seat light.

The high-speed e-scooter is suspended on a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are handled by discs on both ends with combined braking system (CBS).

The Okinawa Okhi90 comes with impressive claimed numbers, wrapped in a fairly competitive price tag. The large 16-inch alloys is also something that’s unheard of in its segment. All in all, the Okhi90 is a well-rounded, feature-packed electric scooter that’s capable enough to take on the big leagues, at least on paper.
