The Okhi90 will be launched on March 24
Update: Okinawa has launched the Okhi90 at Rs 1,21,866. Click here to read the launch story.

Okinawa is a pretty recognised player in the Indian EV space. It has been popular in the low speed and B2B segments. Its high speed options have done decently okay but they are no match to the slightly premium offerings like the Ather 450X, TVS iQube Electric and Ola S1. In order to offer something in this space, it is readying its new scooter: the Okhi90. Before its launch on March 24, here’s what one can expect from it:

Modern European Styling
In the spy shots that have surfaced on the internet, the Okhi90 looks quite different from the other e-scooters from the manufacturer. It has the elegance that one usually finds on European scooters. The clean design, sleek LED turn indicators, and the internal elements of the LED headlight are all neatly executed.

Long Range And Removable Batteries
Okinawa scooters so far have been able to brag about range figures of 130-140km. This figure is expected to see a serious bump up to 160km or more. Plus, the Okhi90 is touted to arrive with removable batteries, with Okinawa perhaps venturing into the battery swapping space as well. This bodes well for the buyer as well as for Okinawa. For the former, it means getting a charged battery would take a matter of minutes, whereas for the latter, the government will be providing some benefits in the coming months for swap stations.

Premium Features
LED lighting, a full digital dash, smartphone connectivity and navigational assist seem to be the basic features that we’ve come to expect from premium e-scooters. These will be found on the Okhi90 as well. This should be a big step up for the manufacturer.

Trusty Foundations
A relatively beefy telescopic fork, twin rear shocks and large 14-inch wheels are just the start of the solid foundations that we could spot on the test mule. It was running with disc brakes at both ends, with CBS, and not ABS, expected to be standard.

Expected Price
Ideally, we hope Okinawa prices the Okhi90 lower than Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This will keep it in the ballpark of other premium e-scooters.
