Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has tweeted that the next purchase window for the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter will open this weekend, that is, May 21, 2022. Bhavish had revealed in March that the price of the Ola S1 Pro will be hiked in the next purchase window, so expect the e-scooter to get dearer by around Rs 5,000 - Rs 7,000 compared to its current price of Rs 1,10,149 (ex-showroom Delhi including FAME II subsidy). The company will also be organising test rides in five cities tomorrow (May 20). Expect the details of the cities to be revealed soon.

Expect deliveries to commence soon, the exact delivery timeline will vary as they are on a first-come-first-serve basis. An advance payment of around Rs 20,000 will have to be made and the rest of the payment will have to be paid once the company sends the final invoice before delivery. There are no dealerships as Ola Electric follows a direct-to-consumer model, so the electric scooter is home-delivered. The whole purchase process is carried through the app.
In a related development, the Ola MoveOS 2 will be rolled out soon. This OTA update promises better navigation and also introduces new features. The company also recalled 1,440 e-scooters after the Pune fire incident. If you’re wondering how fires are caused in EVs, here’s what the federal investigation has revealed.
Ola Electric also plans to introduce a more affordable scooter and is working on cheaper LFP cells as well. Here’s how Ola Electric makes its battery packs. If you’re looking for alternatives, you can check out the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and the just-updated TVS iQube Electric. The iQube was recently updated with better range, more features and improved top speed among others.
