Rolls-Royce has launched its first electric luxury car, the Spectre, in India for Rs 7.5 crore (ex-showroom). The ultra-luxury EV coupe was globally unveiled in October 2022 and the British carmaker had earlier delivered its first unit in India prior to its launch. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
The Spectre's design stays true to the Rolls-Royce tradition, with plenty of bespoke “wow” elements. Up front, you will notice the trademark Rolls-Royce grille, which is now illuminated, creating a delightful ambiance at night. The Spirit of Ecstasy ornament is aerodynamically designed, contributing to the Spectre's impressive drag coefficient of 0.25cd. It rides on 23-inch alloy wheels and gets vertical taillight elements that look subtle and neat.
On the inside, it features a starlight liner on the door pads with a whopping 4,796 softly illuminated stars, originally exclusive to Rolls-Royce car roofs. The passenger side dashboard panel features an illuminated 'Spectre' nameplate that seamlessly disappears when the car is not in use.

The Spectre comes equipped with a fully digital driver’s display using Rolls-Royce's latest 'Spirit' software platform. And for the co-driver, a digital display greets them, capable of showcasing digitised art or a personalised welcome animation as selected by the owner. Obviously, this being a Rolls Royce, you can customise each and every bit of the car by choosing your favourite colour theme, trim and you can even get your name embroidered on the seats.
In the powertrain department, the Spectre's electric motor generates 593 PS and 900 Nm, providing a WLTP-claimed range of 530 km. Despite its nearly 3-tonne weight, it achieves an impressive 0-100kmph acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds.
In the Indian market, it is positioned between the Cullinan and the Phantom, and has no direct rivals. The Spectre also serves as an electric alternative to cars such as the Bentley Flying Spur and Bentley Continental.
