Royal Enfield had quite a few interesting surprises for us at EICMA 2024, we got to see the brand’s first electric bike, the Flying Flea being unveiled along with the Bear 650 scrambler launch and the unveiling of the much awaited Classic 650. Here’s a brief overview of everything we got to see at this EICMA from Royal Enfield.
The Royal Enfield Flying Flea is an upcoming electric roadster from the brand, which takes inspiration from the Flying Flea motorcycle of the 1940s. It features a retro style design, with the round headlight and panels that resemble a fuel tank. The battery pack on this bike is mounted where the engine usually sits, and it comes with cooling fins, which add to the retro vibe.
What is interesting about the bike is the usage of girder forks, something which we haven’t really seen since the 30s and 40s on motorcycles. The Flying Flea C6 manages to look quite good and pays homage to the original Flying Flea motorcycles of the past really well.
The bike is expected to be launched sometime in 2026, and along with it Royal Enfield will also introduce a scrambler/enduro version of the Flying Flea as well.
Royal Enfield also showcased their Electric Himalayan at EICMA 2024, and we saw this bike for the first time in EICMA 2023. The ADV features a rugged design and styling, which takes inspiration from regular petrol powered ADVs in the market..
According to Royal Enfield, this bike is a test platform and not even close to being production ready any time soon. They will use it to test various technologies, and its production form is at least a few years away.
Royal Enfield has also launched the much awaited Royal Enfield Bear 650 Scrambler at a starting price of Rs 3,39,000 (ex-showroom). It features a similar retro-style design as the Interceptor 650, but with a few changes like the addition of funkier colours and a racing plate mounted on the side panel.
It is powered by the same 648cc, air and oil-cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine producing 47.4PS and 56.5Nm. To make it more offroad friendly, the brand has given it longer travel suspension with an inverted fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike is currently offered in 5 different colour schemes and has a lot more features on offer than the Interceptor 650.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650, the much awaited twin-cylinder retro roadster from the brand, has finally been unveiled by the brand. It features a similar design as the Royal Enfield Classic 360, but in a bigger package.
The Classic 650 is powered by the same 648cc air and oil-cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine as the Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650 and others in the 650 lineup. The engine produces 47.4PS and 53.2Nm. We also had a chance to ride the bike recently and here’s what we think about its real world performance.
