The EV manufacturer has tied up with C4V, a New York-based battery tech company

Simple Energy has announced a partnership with C4V (Charge CCCV), a lithium-ion battery technology company based in New York, to set up its own li-ion cell manufacturing ecosystem in India. The EV manufacturer has signed an MOU with C4V, and this make-in-India initiative will also reduce the company’s dependence on battery cell imports.

The C4V cells are claimed to be safer than the conventional li-ion battery cells, in addition to that it also has a higher energy density level than LFP batteries. Faster charging with a longer life cycle are also things that C4V flaunts in its battery cell tech. The battery tech company is also working on solid state battery technology.

Simple Energy plans on utilising C4V’s technology into their upcoming two and four-wheeler EVs. On the other hand, the company has also been working on improving its flagship scooter, the One, which now claims the highest range of over 300km in Indian electric two wheeler space. In February, Simple Energy announced that it has updated the motor of its e-scooter as well. The upgraded 8.5kW motor now delivers an impressive 72Nm, with a claimed 0-40kmph acceleration time of just 2.85 seconds.

Simple Energy will be commencing mass manufacturing of its scooter in the coming weeks at the Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu. The facility has an annual production capacity of up to 1 million units, and deliveries of the e-scooter start in June. The EV manufacturer has also commissioned a second plant in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, which will have an annual production capacity of 12.5 million units. It rivals the Ather 450X, Ola S1 and TVS iQube Electric.
